The orginial question and the background of Darwins evolutionary theory was that all the species were thought to be created apart!. There was obviously no way of one species turning into another!. Darwin tried -rather successfully- to prove that this DID happen and that the species were all related!.

Of course many christians don't see the Genesis-story as an historical story anymore and don't have difficulties with evolution!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Theology doesn't quite agree with Man being any less than one rung below God!. Basically it's God > Man > sentient intelligent animals > sentient animals > non-sentient animals > inanimate objects!.

science and theology are basically the exact opposite!. Theology has sacred texts that cannot be questioned and depends on faith!.
