People choose to claim that God advocates the state because they themselves are either buying into the illusion that he does, or they are using the belief in him to manipulate religious people into becoming advocates of the state!. I am an atheist but I find your question to be historically wrong!. Read Lincoln's speeches to hear the greatest American president question who's side God is actually on!. If you're expressing your opinion of right-wing preachers then the answer is easy: They imagine God like themselves!. But why judge the majority religion of America by one small group of Americans!? I doubt our new black president thinks his God is as you describe most Americans!. To the degree your question is true most Americans would like to believe God is Pro-American since they believe in the ideals of America!. Maybe it's small minded but since almost all nations like to believe their God is with them I'm at a loss to see why this such a negative thing that Americans believe it!. To me thinking like that is just another expression of prejudice!. i!.e!. "Unless you are this color and think this way then you are wrong"!.

Possibly the reason why most Americans think that way is because this country is based on foundation and laws of English puritans who settled this country so many years ago!. That's the way they thought and thus raised their children, grandchildren and generations to where we are today!.

I'm a native born American of English, Dutch, French decent!. Was raised Presbyterian yet I don't think of God as the way I was raised!.!.!.Which is the way described in your question!.

My thought of God is !. !. !.No gender, color, shape, form and of no one religion!. Religion is concept of man!.
God is Love!. Love is pure energy, pure Light!.
I live as person who's non-denominational and simply Spiritual!.
