Question: Is itmore important to be valid or sound!?
What does (1) Valid and (2) Sound mean!? If possible can you use examples for both!? ThanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

"My Driver's License expired on my birthday, Officer!."
"Well, then when is your birthday, son!?"

Is that invalid, or unsound!? Why!?

"A Sound is when vibrations reach a particular wavelength which causes!.!.!."
Whack!
"Be serious, you idiot!"
"!.!.!.that!."
"A real sound is when a deep-sea fish dives into deeper waters to find!.!.!."
Whack!
"Be serious, you idiot!"
"!.!.!.private places to flatulate!."
"What!? Whales don't sound in order to flatulate! That's unsound AND invalid!"

Seriously, Soundness is about the shape of an argument (i!.e!., are the premises in the right places, is the conclusion phrased right, etc!.) and Validity is about the check-mark/red-X quality!. Does it defend what it claims to be saying!? A clear example of invalidity is the use of double negatives: "Ain't it not so!?" Does it not fail to occur!? One may feel that certain forms of double-negation are appropriate, but it is much more valid to affirm the positive (Cotton-pickin' Optimists--They got to me, didn't they!?) or singly negate the opposite!.

A better example of unsoundness is declaring a premise to be a given as a redundancy : "All mice have hair," necessarily involves the premise "No mice are hairless!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

Who cares how sound you are if you have a valid point!? In fact being of sound mind is an opinion that can only be judged by your ability to have a valid argument!. So if you have a pineapple on your head for a hat it matters little as long as your words make sense!.

Of coarse it would take a sound mind to create a valid point every time!. Can we really have one without the other!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

To be sound is to be structured!. To be valid is to be legitimate or correct!.

It is valid to assume that drunk driving is irresponsible!.
He has a sound body and mind due to his diet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
