Does humour have any real meaning?

Question: Does humour have any real meaning!?

Or looking at the bigger picture, is the human sense of humour simply a derivitive of the mind and not very important!?

as far as what a sense of humor does, i think essentially humor is able to crack the eggshell of the mind, a thought or feeling or way of life etc that you just cant shake or escape!. i describe the sensation of laughter as feeling like a child again!. theres something beautiful about it, its elation, its worry-free, refreshing, relaxing!. i think the importance of it has been felt by almost every single person!. as far as why it exists, it could very well be for our health, psychologically as well as physical!. i tend to have a spiritual view on things and as such see humor as an important part of that!. to laugh and be able to sustain that childlike peace and wisdom!.

but i see what youre saying; humor being a sort of reaction of the mind to misfortune or stress!. even still, it seems quite necessary!.

i really cant fathom existence without humor!. and while it seems to set us apart from other animals, i do like to think my cat has quite an arrogant sarcasm about him!. sure he doesnt laugh, but his facial expressions when something ironic happens are priceless!. if only he could talk!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that the only real difference between humans and animals is the sense of humour!. The sense of humour can change a lot of things quite like a smile!. By having a real sense of humour you can tell what you really think about anyone without getting him angry against you!. You can also safe very disappointing situations!. its the opposite to what the mind was expecting, when the mind works out/puts the puzzle into context it rewards its self with elation!. Similarly when you learn how to do something that took a long time to understand you smile and feel elated!. I'm pretty sure it's human nature to laugh at other people's misfortune!. Eventually we will all experience bad times, so it seems ok to laugh at others when it's their turn to get doodooed on!. Did I really write doodoo!? WOW!

yep humours really important to the species, it’s a reflected exaggeration of truth, the funniest humour is based on truth!.
