Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: an actor can raise some 700 million dollars with a good movie, and he might want a good slice of that before agreeying to make a movie!. Same thing with musicians, just replace "movie" with "record"!. Doctors just cure you and sometimes might save a life but the point is they don't raise as much money!. Having said all this, I don't value people according to what they get paid and I hope there's someone else out there that thinks like me!. If it were only for me the likes of Madonna or Tom Cruise would have to get another job as I have never spent a cent on them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Good question ! I've wondered that too from time to time!. I think there are a lot of reasons!. I don't think they are the only ones that benefit as much!. Entertainers live exhausting and demanding lives and they tend to push themselves to the extremes!. They also represent other things that are important in our society, such as setting examples, being leaders and inspiring others!. Sometimes they really put their lives, careers and reputations on the line, and I guess the risks they take in relation to how successful they are in taking those risks can determine how much they are paid and how much the world values them!.!.!. If, when they begin to become famous, and if they are smart enough, have the talent and have good agents, they can also begin to demand more money to perform!. From what I understand, only 5 percent of SAG members actually earn enough from being only entertainers!. They rest still have "day jobs"!.!.!.!. So, not all entertainers are successful!. In fact, very few are!. It's a tough business!. It helps if you have what it takes, like talent, confidence, endurance, the right connections, the right look, etc!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It's a cruel fact but the thing that I admire the most about saviors is that they keep on saving!. They don't think, I deserve more than what I am getting, they think, this person (the victim, the person they are saving) deserves more than this!. It's not about money, it's about how many lives you save!. Entertainers get paid more, they get more praise, and they are remembered the most!. That's because they want the fame, money, and remembrance!. The doctors (most i'd say) don't do it for money, fame, or memory, they do it to save lives!. They deserve all that fame, money and remembrance but what's truly admirable is they're not fighting for what they deserve, they are fighting for what other people deserve, and that's what makes them who they are!.!.!. saviors!. For me, if you gave doctors massive paychecks and everyone they save was highlighted on the news, personally, they'd lose my respect because they are getting what they deserve!. They're no longer doing anything special!. All the respect I have for, soldiers, doctors, social workers, it all comes from the fact that they work purely and only for the sake of helping!. I'm not saying they don't deserve it but if you gave them the massive paychecks and fame for their work, it would make their special work materialistic and after that, they might as well be entertainers!. When I came to this page, I found 7 answers to your question & believe me, none of them are authentic! Few of them were partially perfect regarding media!. ( Media could chase a doctor, a philosopher, political leader!.!.!.!.!.isn't that!? Haven't you seen the media running after political leaders!? So, it's not the magic behind!. I'm working in the local entertainment industry here in my country & I'm involved in ad, campaign-plan etc of the local movies!. Obviously I've friends here: Directors, Producers, Actors, Cameraman etc!. But sometimes they offer me a character to act & I do acting as an amateur! If you want to judge me in a scale of 1(top) to 100, then my humble confession would be, I'm in between 98 to 100! It's fact!. Yet, I'm so popular in my country that it becomes too tough to run my normal life!. I would tell you the secret & then facts behind the truth: No!.1 Secret: It's not the media that run always after a so-called actor, singer or others; "WE", the crew behind the making of any entertaining subjects, force the media to let them run after our casts( sometimes actors, actresses, music composer or others!. WE create such a craze that media become bound to run after a particular person! If needed, WE spend money (legally) to make media biased so that 'public' gulp all the rumors as FACT; WE intentionally make public crazy to our 'sell-able' product (here actors etc)!. No!.2 FACTS: Doctors, Engineers, Philosophers could do the tricks with media, right!? Why don't they do so!? (forget morality, ethics etc) The fact is ( and here is your answer perhaps) that the average persons, including you, have a hidden dream! You all are ACTORS, ACTRESS, MUSIC DIRECTOR, SINGER in your imaginations!. So, when you are introduced with an actor through a movie (already we've made him/her a celebrity!) ------- you, in fact, feel yourself as a celeb! (It's very true that when one enjoys movie, one becomes the hero/heroin of that story psychologically! That's why, in real life, you become so crazy about our stars, ahh, it becomes easy to sell our product!. "Entertainers", as you mentioned, take the opportunities, raise their fees, play hide & seek with fans, become more celeb; we use to pay them HIGH just to earn HIGH! What benefit one would get by raising fees of the doctors!? Lawyers!? Philosophers!? That's the fact behind the 'fame', 'respect', 'money' etc the entertainers get!. It doesn't mean that we become succeeded always! That's the reason, stars fall!
