Question: Do we have free will or do we just naturally respond to things!?
Are the things we do at every moment, the result of our own mind acting independently or is merely the result of genetic and environment dictation!. Genetics is our personality, which results in specific behaviour patterns and environmental which enables our personality to navigate it in a specific way!. How much free will does a person have and how much of it is just automatic and response to emotion, which is not free will!.!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

well!.!. what do you think, how can a unconscious man do things!? What is in a unconscious mans life that is not involuntary!? Everything in life happens, man is merely being moved by these happening!. Man can be said to be on autopilot, he doesn't initiate anything, everything is already made there!. The external stimulus causes movement in man, and man reacts to what is happening and how he reacts reflects the happening outside of himself!.

What does this depend upon!? Not only what is hereditary, but also the fact that mans consciousness is fractured -- his personality, his ego is fractured and what fractured part of us, what trait will show itself is entirely dependent on external stimulus!. Man is a machine, in the same manner that a machine does not move itself without something outside of it turning it on, to begin its mechanical functioning, man is the same way when it comes to his experiences!. Man does not have a free will because he is fractured, and if he is fractured then his will is fractured!.

While genetics have something to do with personality, this is not exclusively what personality is!. In truth personality is what is invoked and established after one is born and becomes conditioned further and further by the impressions of their experience!. This is way man does not DO things, because everything possesses him to react mechanically!.No one acts!. Man in his natural state is entirely on autopilot, the extremity of this "automaton" life is beyond the point of what words can express!. As long as man does not have self consciousness, he is a machine!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I do not believe that the human mind has the ability to just "automatically" respond to emotion!. The mind is a trove of electrical impulses and 'switches' clicking on and off in perfect synchronization!. It is a fact that people who suffer from mental illness could "see and feel" a situation the same as a normal person, but would not know or 'understand' how to process the information in the same way!. The impulses required stimulation of some kind and still the person will not get it unless they are under a doctor's care!. Emotionally speaking, the mind requires 'outside' stimuli for inner function!.

Free will is a 'star in its own right'!. The mind, the 'intellectual' thinking part, the decision making part, is a separate entity and the mechanical workings of a human being!. Every single thing we do daily, every decision we make, every step we take to where we are going, every person we meet or talk to is controlled by this part of the brain!. Whether or not you are a believer, God provided human beings "free will"!. We were given free will to be able to "choose" for ourselves which life we really prefer, this one here now, or the one to come!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow!.!.!.!. I am jealous of you!. You asked a wonderful question and you seem a highly intelligent person!.

IMHO, it is mix of both!. As per genetics, we have some limitations, yet some powers as well as others don't necessarily have them!. Similarly, our free will does impact some of our life's important events despite the ferocity of the testing moments in our lives!.

In one word, Genetic emotions are usually directed by our free will, taking us to our destiny and karma!.

I think It's always both!. We were born with our genetics right!?!? So we cannot change what our genes are born as!. also, the enviiornment like you said does affect our genes and our experience, making us who we are now!. I think we have free will, because its up to us to either accept our 'fate' or to suck up the courage to be self-reliant and change!. Maybe fate can be part of our 'genes' and the enviornment you're brought up in!. But you must first realize that in order to break the cycle, you must be the person that wants to think (freewill) to change!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a huge subject!. Genetics plays a part, but only a minor role!. More important is environmental factors, especially the role they play in constructing the unconscious, we also posess a decent amount of free will, although that is severly constrained by factors both internal and external to our selves that we are probably not even aware of!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can't tell you which is the right answer, and frankly, i don't think anybody can!. However, I can tell you which is the best (for us) to believe in!.

First there are the people who believe there is no free will!. These people are idiots - here's why!.!.!.

in believing this, they aim lower in their lives; they believe murderers are innocent (because the murderers are victims forced to kill others) and that if they were in the murderers shoes (or rapist, or paedophile, or whatever), they would do the exact same things!.

they could be right!.!.!.!. and I'm not saying they aren't!. But let's have a look at the free willed people and what they think

free will people beleive that they have a choice in everything, so they fight against all odds (if they are brave enough) to succeed; they don't believe they have the capacity to kill, or rape, and therefore dismiss the ideas before they can turn into action; they don't excuse themselves when something bad happens, but instead they change it or fix it; and last but not least, they hope for a good future, and believe in love that isn't compulsory, and all of that!. So i think!.!.!.

If people were all free willed people, there would be less suicide, and rape, and crap like that!.!.!. Therefore I believe in free will, because (even though it may not technically be right) it makes life better, and more enjoyable for me!.

The non free willed thing - i don't think life is that simple!. You would have to be a mega cynical emo to believe you were a preprogrammed robot responding to stimulus!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have an add on to the concept of free will!. Let's call it FREE MATH!. 1+1= whatever you decide it does!. Cause and effect don't apply to FREE MATH because God so loved the world that he gave his only son an abacus so he could give FREE MATH to all the souls on Earth!. That is how many souls!? 1 + 8 or 9 billion = 144,000; or whatever you WANT!

That's the logic of Free Will!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Free will, unless we allow ourselves to be controlled by our emotions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Either the world creates us or we create the world!. It's our guilt and belief in powerlessness that allows the former!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
