Learning is the process of encountering new information!.

Thought is the process through which we transform that information into knowledge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Learning without thought is labor lost"
I take this is meaning that learning without the interpretation of what is learned it futile!. The subject learned is worthless without subjective application and understanding!.

"Thought without learning is perilous"
If you think without having a basis for what is thought, it is essentially "operating without a license" and thus, is dangerous!. One needs to have a foundation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The way I see it: if you're "learning" (ie!. reading or listening) without trying to understand then you are wasting your time!. If you spend a lot of time thinking and wondering, but never come to any conclusion or discover anything new, then you are working your mind pointlessly!.

I think the person means life in general, as opposed to school learning, however school is a part of life, so it would be somewhat included!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The dude's basically saying learning without analyzing and contemplating what you're learning is a waste of thought and time and thinking without knowing and expanding what you've thought is dangerous[to your learning process]!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
