Question: How empirical are newton's rules of reasoning!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Overall they are very empirical!. He certainly is trying to devise rules that makes scientific research possible!. However, some of his assumptions are not correct, like when he states "Therefore to the same natural effects we must, as far as possible, assign the same causes!. !.!. the light of our culinary fire and the sun;" So he is saying that we should assume that fire and the sun are the same cause!? Anyone that knows much about the sun knows that there are very different causes of why fire and the sun both glow!. Chemical vs!. nuclear reaction!. He does say that rules applies "as far as possible" but he clearly applies that rule farther than he should!.

The man was still an undisputed genius, and the rules are impressive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
