I consider myself on the liberal side, but a man or woman in their 50's who keeps contact with teenagers on the internet is without a doubt a red flag!.
When asked about issues like this, I always compare them to people in my family!. My father, grandfather and uncles, are all 50 or older, and I would consider it inappropriate if I found out that they were communicating via the internet with teens about personal things!. Gross!. There's no excuse no matter who it is, no matter how many problems that person may have!. Nuh-uh!.

EDIT: Wait, did you mean just Yahoo Contacts!? Or contact through email etc!.!? If you mean just through Y!A, I don't think it's anything to worry about!. But if it's personal contact, than that brings me back to what I wrote above!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Frankly, I find it utterly creepy!.

One has to wonder why on earth a man who purports to have some level of maturity feels the need to interact closely online with minors!.

In real life, these kids wouldn't give such creeps the time of day!. But online, the kids are soooo vulnerable!. They don't see past the trendy avatar and fake persona!. And relationships are formed which seem very suss to me!

Any 50 year old man worth his salt would weed out the kids!. Having them as contacts means that they will be exposed to all of his q and a!. And if he engages in any kind of 'adult' conversation whatsoever, even in terms of answering sex questions online, then I think he should be more mindful of the kids in his network!. I really don't think there is any valid reason for them to be that close!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am 56 and a lot of kids put me as their contact, friend!. But then again, I have NO IDEA as to their actual age is!. Because people can put any age they want on their page - no one is going behind them to verify their age - and they ask to be my contact, friend!. I think it is cool when anyone ask to be my contact, friend!. I think that means that I am answering correctly the questions they are asking!. I think that is what it is!.

PS I find the answers and questions here very interesting to read, respond to!. No matter what your age, real, or fake!.!.!. I especially like the jokes!. I tell them to my family, friends, and at work!.

It's a very simple matter indeed!. I do honor those 50+ persons who have that capability of 'going on smooth' with teens!. Credit goes to them because they own a young heart each!. Are you talking on 'contacts' only!?---well, I've even true 'friends', all teens (few of them are junior to my daughter even!)!. To them I'm 26 yrs old & I'm also a 26 yrs old male---but the surprising thing is this, I'm 26 yrs for the last 26 years! Guess my age!? (I admit that it's because of my profession; I work in the local entertainment industry & all the teens are my fans-turned-friends!.)
What is the benefit!? I stay young with the teens around me & they get valuable advises from an experienced old guy!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
