Question: TWhat does Dr!.King mean when he says he has a dream hat the nation"will live out the true meaning of its creed!?

Eddie is right!.

In 1776, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, and in it he wrote:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!."

and in Article I of the Massachusetts Constitution (1780):

"Article I!. All men are born free and equal, and have certain natural, essential, and unalienable rights; among which may be reckoned the right of enjoying and defending their lives and liberties; that of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property; in fine, that of seeking and obtaining their safety and happiness!."

What Dr!. King was referencing to were the words that were used in the aforementioned documents that hold a lot of meaning in our country's history--they are basically the nation's "creed"!.

The truth is, even now, there is inequality between races (you still see racism today), even though race doesn't affect much anymore!. His dream was for all people to unite as one, regardless of race!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
