The reason!? Here:

B - e yourself

N - either be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and
disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass!.

That's my favorite part of the long poem!.

Being "cynical about love" means not believing in it anymore!. We shouldn't do that because love -- whatever happens -- will always prevail!.

Beautiful, isn't it!?

always expecting the worst when it comes to love!.!.!.!.!.!.

Bitter in this sense would be someone who has never found/felt love or someone who has been heartbroken - they tend to have a hard time opening up and letting the love in - very difficult to be loved and realize it when you are bitter about love!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It means that love isn't possible!.So it means that the author hasn't really experienced love!. In romantic love it might mean he experienced pain that hasn't been resolved!. But love is caring for people, including yourself, and seeing that they get better because of it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
