I'm an American citizen!. Born, raised and reside in Northern California!. 52 yrs!. old!.

Sadly, I agree with your statement that violence is very much part of the American culture!.

All that you mentioned!.!.!.t!.v!. projecting violent programs and "humor", movies, war hungry, video games, etc!. "Humor" shows t!.v!. shows that laughs at disrespectful manner of speech and dishonor towards parents, teachers, authority figures, etc!. is not healthy foundation for young minds to be viewing!.

"Games" that encourage violence!. Those "games" that are presented openly for kids access, Video games, games in arcades, the movies, t!.v!., certain music, etc!. That feeds into developing minds and DE-SENSITIZES them to pain, to have weak compassion!. So I agree with your statement!.

Certain elements are off limits to kids till their 18, yet the violent, killing, shooting video games in arcades at movie theatres, etc!. are openly available those 18 and under to "feed into" their developing minds!.

I enjoy where I live, value this country, yet much of the "typical" American way of thinking is not my way of thinking!.

I feel the original intent of the "laws" set by this countries forefathers has been twisted around and abused!. The right to bear arms, the freedom of speech, etc!. have been greatly abused from the original intent and foundation those "laws", guidelines were originally intended to be!.

I've faith though!. A "shift" is being felt and voiced!.
In the meantime, this one citizen here speaks my "voice" and share my thoughts where it applies and when asked for!.

I'm more-so an individual on this planet than an American citizen!.
We're all "brothers" and "sisters" on this planet!.
Your "voice" is important to hear and very much has a right to be heard, American citizen or not!.
We're all "neighbors"!. !. !. Just a bit further than the next town, but "neighbors" just the same!.
I care how we relate to our "neighbors" whether their near or far!.

Its strange that violence is such a major aspect of their media whenever their police are so strict against violence!. Anything goes except violence is the attitude!. I think CSI and American films show violence in an unrealistic light and in reality the aims of American people are unrealistic as they are so ambitious about getting money, power and luxury!. I think violence is just another extension of brainwashing the people to think that they must destroy their opposition!. Perhaps the amount of calculated cruelty in the films is a reflection of the ideology of the people, that they would use calculated tactics to gain power and influence!. You could get a lot of bad ideas from CSI!. They keep themselves to themselves much more than in Asia!. It must give them a sense of excitement to see violence in films!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The American culture has a problem with stylizing violence while ignoring it's real side!. Violence in our culture is too often synonymous with action, excitement, or ego!. The problem with this is that people, particularly those who grew up with this stylized ideal, can lose sight of the real nature of violence!. Adults can usually dissociate violence in entertainment from reality but it's much more difficult for children!.

The prevalence of guns might reflect on the general cultural attitude towards violence though not necessarily!.

The foreign policy decisions and invasions are an entirely different factor that have to do with the incompetence of the Bush administration!. It would not be accurate to group this in the same category as the culture since when it comes to foreign policy, we're not a democracy (except in name)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Americans don’t condone the violent surge in such films, and many in search of a quiet, peaceful life and stability, have no desire to live watching their backs for counter attacks from their hapless victims!. We must then ask who does it benefit, who profits from this two way terrorism between east and west, religions, races and nations!. Microphone pointing the ’the people’ is a buck [passing exercise for the media, a people require nothing more than safe communities, stable jobs and basic human necessities!. All other opinion is aroused to condone the indefensible actions of the state, media, banking and church at war with one another for power and dominance!.

Politicos are paid handsomely for the administration of a nation!. If they are unable to make simple decisions for the safeguarding and welfare of their people, maybe they should seek alternative employment in office admin in a corporate based role than such powerful positions!. The people need a leader, JL!. Good luck!.

I live in America and I think that it is sad and quite frightening how much violence is used in our media and forms of entertainment in modern society!. I don't understand how people can go watch someone's head be decapitated in a movie and find joy in it!.

I don't think that it is an important part!.!.that doesn't really make any sense, but I do think it's saddening!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Look, you bleedin' Aussies first gave the Americans fine movies like Mad Max and the Road Warrior!. They were the best films ever and they predate all the violent US dribble you posted in your question!

After that, you screwed everything up by making Beyond Thunderdome!. I'll never get that "Master-Blaster runs Bartertown" or that "Break a deal face the wheel" stuff out of my brain, ever!. Gosh, I could puke!

Thank you Australia for giving America 3 of the craziest Aussies ever!.!.!.and they are, Russel Crowe, Mel Gibson, and the singing chihuahua, Celine Dion!. Thank you!.

If you think the culture of America is so violent, you should sign up for a brief class in World History!. Psst, start in the Near East around 6000 BC!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Violence is shown in a lot of outlets: hollywood, news etc!. However, I do not think we are the most violent country and I would never say it's an important part of our culture!. You have to remember: World War 2 our country stepped up!.!.not just our government but the entire nation went without a lot!.!.to help save other countries and nations from the Nazi's and the Japanese!. We do not like war but sometimes in our world, it is necessary!. It's not like we arbitrarily said, We don't like Iraq or the people so we're going to invade!. There were and are clear threats to the world and the people of that country!. Have we made all th right moves and decisions, absolutely not, but it is what it is!. Maybe if other countries would step up and unite and help and give input, the world could defeat terrorism and change our view on violence and the role it plays world wide!.

I'm proud to be an American!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that it is important, but only because we've made it important!.
forms of entertainment just kept gradually getting more violent, and people have learned to create standards based on a certain amount of violence!. like for instance, if an action or adventure movie doesn't have enough fights in it, nobody will like it!. but not all hope is lost!. most entertainment makes up for lack of violence with comedy, romance, etc!. and definitely not everyone likes watching all the violence that makes up entertainment these days!.
I think that we should take violence out of all the entertainment forms!. if we do it gradually (but not slowly) it could have a good impact!. at first, people wouldn't notice it!. they would just think that this years movies aren't as action-packed, or the show was just taking some rest time, then they realize what was happening, and some people would get mad!. but if we kept having non or less violent entertainment, eventually people (especially the children) would look more favorably on the non violent entertainment that stood out!. as an example, movies like Step Up!. (i didn't care too much for it, but everyone else likes it) you know, non-violent, and strong about dancing!. people would learn/remember that violence doesn't make up entertainment!. our culture would rapidly change into something more!.!.!. cultural!. but inevitably, violence would slowly crawl back into entertainment and once again climb back up to front of viewers' attention!.
so yes,
Amreicans are subject to way too much violence, mostly through our entertainment, which in turn reflects on our view of it, and makes us more violent (we're not running around the streets killing each other, but you know what i mean)
(i bet crime rate would go way down if we were all techno dancers :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
