Voltaire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com There is a subtle point in the questions that I have no clue as how I am going to address, but I can try nevertheless, just to see what opinion I have been holding about something that I am only vaguely aware of!. The point that is making me fee dubious is the unlikely comparison between ‘someone’s right to express their opinion’, and, someone’s right to hold their opinion!. Then the question, as I clarify it for myself, is from the point of view of a second person, an observer of these both rights!. Why one should be objected, often so vehemently, merely for holding certain of their personal views, or opinions, as opposed to the common right to express opinions!. I things this is where the hypocrisy our common towards that rights of each other is exposed!. It seems that we allow every one to express their opinions as freely as they can!. We regard freedom of expression to be one of the greatest values of our society and therefore go to great lengths to preserve it!. But once we know what opinions people hold, once they are rightfully expressed, under our very own auspices and command, then we waste not time in turning around and punishing people whose opinions we find adversely opposite to our own, to our own active purposes!. This is as thought the freedom of expression were nothing but a bait to lure something negative out in the open, something that we might not have been aware of otherwise!. This is however is just a matter of common human nature as there are variations in a realistic world, and there are people and places in this world where it is more likely for someone to be heard, relatively fairly and openly!. If you can inject humour to lighten the mood there is more chance your opinion would be heard!. We all disagree at times with people's opinions but we should try not to take it too seriously!. Surely you cannot argue with everyone who has an opinion not to your liking!. It is important to learn tolerance of opinion!. If however someone has negative opinions or is narrow-minded it is important to tell them that it is unacceptable to think this way!. Its okay to be tolerant to variation in opinion but we must be intolerant of racial discrimination, violence, bad work ethics etc!. If you correct someone for discriminating they will probably see they are incorrect in their views!. I personally think freedom of opinion is an illusion!. As human beings we all have inner morals and principles and have the right to correct anyone who does not follow them!. Many people therefore give many differing and contrary oipinions based upon their limited and biased viewpoints, a living hell created and for the profiteering of the media towards the generation and sustaining of chaos and mayhem!. Hate fuels controversial speculation giving vent to a people anger best remedied than spoken or heard!. Emotional and psychological damage and trauma caused by such rash and ill considered opinion gives rise to vehemently opposed political correctness laws to instil a sense of courtesy in an ill managed and badly governed people!. If by voicing your opinion you are infringing on another's rights then you have crossed that line, also if your opinion incites violence then it cannot be tolerated by law!. People forget that freedom is far from free and certain limits have to be applied for the concept of free speech to work!. I've seen the misconception of Freedom in action after the war in Kosovo, everyone was "free" to let children drive cars (some of them so young they couldn't see out!) and to bulldoze Kosovo Serbian Graveyards and then use the area as the town dump!. These being the incitement to violence act and the 2006 incitement to religious or racial hatred act!. Personally I feel that the later can often be misconstrued and used as a device to stifle free speech because hatred is an emotion, and how can governments control emotion, but if every one sticks to the first then whats the problem!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I presume that you ask this question in the context of the disclosure of people's membership of the ENP and the opprobium with which members are regarded!. I find it strange that in a society where every belief we might subscribe to except a political belief seems to be protected by the Equality Act 2006!. I can see that there is a need to protect ourselves from the threat of terrorism, but I cannot see any logical reason for persecuting people because they hold different political views from oneself within a national context!. It seems unacceptable that people should fear persecution simply because of party membership and yet be outlawed by our system!. This would appear to be a witchhunt of a kind which we abandoned centuries ago!. In fact, there is a certain irony in the fact that there is a move to pardon retrospectively people who were persecuted as witches while allowing people in our midst to be hounded because of their sincere political beliefts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com No, there really can't be!. A very good friend of mine helped me learn this years ago!. He was a black man in a white man's world and we'd often discuss things that happened at work ,etc!. His attitude was amazing to me!. And then we'd talk about things like the kkk !.!.when they were doing their (annoying, but largely ineffectual) marches!.!.!.he helped me to see that not only did they have to be allowed to do this, but that they were actually changing more opinions against them by doing so!. Another person that helped me this was the manager at my first job!. One of my coworkers was very nice for the most part!. After about a year there, I found out that he was kkk (because his dad was) and also that Diane knew it & was very kind to him and a fair manager!. I was completely appalled & finding it very difficult to even be around him!. She said that basically the kid had no chance, being raised the way he was!.
