Let us assume that god does exist, he has already provided the solution, humans have brains, many simply choose not to use them completely!.
Oh, and would not worry about the planet!.
Humans my destroy themselves, but this planet has seen the extinction of over 90% of all known forms of life!.
I can assure you that it would take more than humans to render earth a desolate waste land!.
All we are doing is making it more difficult for ourselves!.
