Let me clear dear Glow Wings misconceptions first!

I really don't know where you got this idea that we Indian women 'do not show our faces, let alone wear make-up'!. That purdah pratha you are talking about is obsolete now! Well, it could still be there in some remote villages of say, Rajasthan!. But I haven't seen a woman in purdah (veil) for a long long time and I live in India! As for make-up!.!.!.international brands are launching their products almost every day and Ms World/Universe title held by Indian beauties help spread that fad!. Though I personally do not like heavy make-up & prefer a clean, natural look, Indian women have used natural products to enhance their looks since ancient times!.!.!.kohl made from soot, lips reddened by bark of a tree used for brushing teeth, sandalwood etc!. etc!.

Now for the colours!. That again is very interesting if you observe closely!. Those living in the dull deserts of Rajasthan wear the most brightly coloured clothes!.!.!.in their bid to enliven their colour-less surroundings!. Those living in lush green, verdant Kerala prefer whites!. Mostly our choice is dictated by weather (light colours in summer and dark in winter with bright ones for spring/autumn/monsoon), and age (subdued hues as we advance in years)!.

Generally speaking, Yes, we love colours!.!.!.bright, sunny!.!.!.go well with our lust for life!.!.!.afterall we are loud people!.!.!.unrestrained! LOL!

To Fuji: Those arm bands are called "Bangles"! Oh yes, we Indians just love to wear them!.!.!.matching colours with our outfits!.!.!.on special occasions!.!.!.not just for sight but for sound they make, as well!.!.!.

Pl!. note: The TD GW got is not from me!. It could be some mischievous person trying to create misunderstandings!.!.!.!.thought I should clarify, since I've responded to her answer!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I saw 4 beautiful ladies wearing brightly colored saris and veils!.

To me it evokes compelling beauty, grace, modesty, respect and reverence for womanhood and much diligence!.

I honestly love the bright colors as it transcends all time and place!. I happened to be at a botanical garden, and they looked like they were dressed up for a beautiful party, but it's their culture and I think it is rare and definitely a jewel!.

I wish I could pull it off the sari and veil!., but I think you need their skin tone, and features!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Purple was "the color", in the biblical days! I believe that bright colors do add beauty to the women of those countries!.
After all, many of them are not seen in public without veils covering their faces!.
They don't show their faces, let alone, wear face make-up! Www@QuestionHome@Com
