You can't really trust the internet generally, if for no other reason, then that your teachers will tell you not to use internet sources!. So with that caveat out of the way:

I do not know about specifically French romantics!.

But the Romantic in art tends to emphasize nature, tends to emphasize the artist's creative power (think Frankenstein making his monster and actually giving it life)!. The artist is a supreme being, almost!. The romantics experiment with forms sometimes not finishing works or leaving them open-ended!. Nature is a source of inspiration and emotion for the artist, who is (stereo)typically ruled by strong emotions!.

The Romantics were tied up in revolutions due to their interest in individuality and their aspirations to ideals!. One of the mantras of the French revolution was "freedom, brotherhood and equality" (I forget the French for this)!. And Romantics embraced the spirit of revolution in art as in politics!. Until the revolution betrayed its original ends and turned into a bloody mess!. Romantics sometimes viewed themselves as champions of the common man, but more often wanted to emulate his raw artistic expression against old forms!. In Germany, for example, authors wrote about minorities, and the Brothers Grimm collected (and embellished) folk tales in an anthropological and linguistic enterprise!.

There was some search for the ideal poet in nature away from the corrupting influence of society!. Similar trends led Romantics to be captivated by the revolutionary spirit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only thing "romantic" to come out of france is cologne used to cover up the shiit smells!. Nice attempt, but not nice enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
