It may have been Sir Winston Churchill who said, "History is written by the victors"!.

Regardless of who said it, such is correct and with a good public relations campaign even the least talented and less than mediocre can be thought of by the general public as "great"!.

Joseph Stalin said something to the effect that if one controls the press (the main media outlet of that time) one can control the minds of the masses!.

Who or what is thought of as great depends more upon how the same idea is sold and how many buy the same rather than any real action a person or nation may have taken to be thought of or seen as great!.

The greatness of great countries comes from a great leader (or leaders) in its course of life and the countries' outstanding citizens!. They believe in their leader(s), do as the leader(s) mandates, and in return the citizens facilitate the leader(s) commissions appropriately!.

Note: this is my own idea - in an ideal world!.!.!.

Speaking as one national which had the greatest and shortest Empire in History!.
Maybe the age of Empires is over, one would hope with globalisation
that the coming Chinese Hegemony will be the last before some sort of world fusion, or is this a dystopic view of the world!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
