Question: "I think, therefore i am"!?

I think it means something along the lines of

'I am able to think, and therefore I exist and am real!.'

I don't agree that being able to think necessarily means we are definitively 'real', but I do agree in that, seeing as I am able to think, I exist unto myself, and to those who surround me, and really, for me at least, that is genuinely all that matters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's basic existentialism, which is a concept centering around what it means to exist!.

With the existentialism theory, you have to be making an impact on the world or others, otherwise, you are not truly existing!. If you think, you're thinking is leading you somewhere or to something, meaning you are doing your thinking to carry out a purpose!. So, if you are thinking, you exist, as according to existentialists!.

You "think," therefore, you "are," so you exist!. Thinking means that you are existing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was just Descartes way getting his name in books!. Seriously I think it means more then we can argue!. Of course if are you not, then you cannot think!. Obvious!.
But DeHorres Said it just the other way!. He said, I am, therefore I think!. This makes more sense!. Have you ever seen a dog try to figure something out looking at it, or a cat!? They are thinking, not like we do, maybe, but still!. They are, therefore they think!.
The two divergent philosophies have been argued forever!.
I would go with DeHorres!.

it is true!. it is the only thing that can be 100% true, without any shadow of a doubt!.

the quote refers to the fact that potentially we could be in something like the matrix where nothing we perceive exists!.

since this is possibly, we can be sure of nothing!.

however, what we are sure of is that we are something perceiving this potential illusion!. we are a mind with thoughts!. is our body real!? well maybe not!. is our mind in a jar on someone's desk hooked up to a device that tricks our minds into thinking we exist in a world as we perceive it to be!? maybe!.

but what's for sure is that we are a mind that perceives!. it is certain we are thoughts!. it is certain we are!.

but what is this 'I'!? well you can't be certain, but it is something!. it is thoughts, it is an awareness whether it is deceived or not, whether it perceives nothing but illusions or not, i am certain there is something perceiving, something thinking, and that thing, whatever else it may be, wherever it may be is 'I'!.

he originally wrote in Latin then translated to French!.
"i am thinking!.!.!." might be a little closer to his thoughts

essentially he developed the idea, contrary to the Aristotelian idea of determining "justice" or "good" as in a pyramid approach of arriving at the top of the pyramid by thought/discussion from the bottom, to the idea (descartes) that one starts at the point (concept of the inverted pyramid) by contemplation at the cottage!.
his approach to philosophical thought was a big change (duhhh)!.
More's PRINCIPIA ETHICA is interesting, particularily the preface, in which he considers the possibility that one simply 'knows' what is right!. (G E More, sorry)

Consciousness = existence!. Sounds reasonable (for humans at least)!. Try defining yourself and see what you come up with!. Not 'I enjoy soccer and strawberry ice-cream' but what you actually are on the most basic level that fully describes you!. If you can come up with anything other than 'I am', let me know!.
