Success isn't the same for everyone!. I consider my life to be successful, yet I am neither rich nor famous!. I'm just a homemaker with a few kids and a loving husband!. But I am successful because we are happy, healthy, and growing!. By someone else's definition, though, we wouldn't be considered successful because we don't have tons of money, we have one old car, we live in a rented house, our clothes aren't brand new or even brand name, and we homeschool!. Success is relative!.

Your example is a good one!. Those people aren't really successful!. They are miserable, and it's so sad to watch their decline (Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, etc!.)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

first of all success is relative to the individual!. contemporary american culture would like to tell you otherwise but it is simply a myth!.!.!.material wealth does not equal success!.

at the same time however, do not knock drug addicts and those who commit suicide!. until you have gone through the same exact experiences as another individual you cannot judge their actions as they pertain to their own bodies!. that is a judgment for you to make!.

also it is my belief, and many existentialists most notably Camus, that suicide is one of the bravest actions a person can perform

i would say "more a legend"!.

Anyone can succeed at anything(someone recently said here-mistakenly,that they"knew nothing"Although they forgot they knew how-to-type and how to see(!))!.

Anyway,i'm a critical rationalist, and i endorse this messge of the great scholar karl Popper;he did write his book called The myth of the Framework!.
ive been living here less that 3 years and it seems to me that the Myth and the Framework is very much alive-and-kicking here!.
i guess then that the harmless things being taught to kids in U!.S!. schools is likely anything but!.
(anyone with a bit of sense can easily see this; a common example would be the (media and other)view that an unknown woman was chozen as a vice-presidential candidate;Shock Horror-what next!? A blind president!?Or one who doesnt live in a city!?Etc!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, if it is the standard model of having more and doing less because there wouldn't be any struggle!.

Success isn't a myth; it's a bloated, pasty CEO with diamonds shoved up his nose, dead in a golden bathtub filled with twinkies!. Happy days!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Success: The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted

If the above is true, then we really want success, the problem is that we don't know what we want, do we!?
