Philosophy thinks science and religion, in the form of epistemology and theology!. Science and religion are objects of the philosophical thought and commentary, but philosophical discipline doesn't lead to science (which is a very specific field of knowledge, very specialized) and doesn't lead to religion either, for religion is based on faith, living experience of the divine, and thought, whereas philosophy implies doubt, research and reason!. Some philosophers were believers though, but they never confused their philosophical work with their personal faith!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Science is supposed to be based on verifiable facts, and you can't verify philosophy!. Although philosophy tries to base it's logic on facts, it veers off into speculations that can't be verified because philosophy is subjective in the end!.

Philosophy can't lead to religion either, since religion comes to conclusions and beliefs that philosophy shies away from!. Philosophy can't stay "open to" and keep it's speculations ongoing in it's search for Truth if it comes to a conclusion or forms beliefs!. Philosophy can make you act more ethically, for awhile, but your philosophical thoughts die away because there isn't a written ethical code that you're following as in religion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy is actually (historically) the foundation of science, look at all the philosophers of the classical times, they observed, and then formulated a theory on how this works, and supported this with their arguments!. Science nowadays has more tools to determine the cause of something, so it is more accurate!.
But all the sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) started with people philosophizing about natural phenomenons!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes I believe it can, based on the willingness and predispositions of the person searching!.

I cannot give you any arguments against, I would tend to agree with your friend!. Existentialism is just one part of philosophy, I think it is you that hasn't understood!.

Francis Bacon - "A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism; but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion!."

Truth is absolute but many absolutely don't want truth!.

philosophy already has led to science!. lol that is simply history of philosophy!. as for religion!. that has always been separate!. although philosophy and religion have greatly overlapped, for theologians have used philosophy in order to argue for God, etc!.

but no!. i dont see why or how philosophy will dissolve into science or religion!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I think your friend is correct!. The study of thought can naturally lead to study of the brain!. Study of the brain can naturally lead to the study of consciousness!. The study of consciousness naturally leads to two camps; materialism and religion or better said unseen intelligent consciousness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Such things as philosophy, science and religion do not have to be in conflict!. In fact, it's possible for all of them to "work together!." It just could be that many of us are considering the same things, but we're approaching them from different viewpoints!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy is the science which considers the truth!. In which the truth is religion!. Philosophy is done to bridge religion and science!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
