im not that familiar with Descartes specifics!. but ill take a stab at it

based on his ontological argument for the existence of God, i would just assume that ideas of finite and infinite play a similar role to perfection and imperfection!. since we are finite beings, yet have a concept, or idea, of infinite, then that idea of infinite could not have come from us, merely finite beings!. it must have been planted within us by an infinite being!. this infinite being would be God!.

of course take this answer with a grain of salt!. it is just my educated guess as a philosophy major!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
