I believe that it would survive for a while, but eventually degrade!. Without art (and art can be defined in a very broad sense that any action or improvement that does not have a pure functional reason can be art) to inspire there can be very little improvement within civilitzation itself!. It will eventruall drag down on itself!.
A practical example of this might be Russsian Communism!. There was very little true art in that society, individual expression was looked down upon, and without that inspiration advancement slowed and eventually the Russian Soviet colapsed in on itself!.
Art is a prequistite for inspiration, and inspiration is a necessary componet of advancement!. Without art, a society will eventually fail!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We would not be human without art!.

I have to do something artistic/creative every once in a while!
I always find something I can do even if it is just to
make a Holloween costume :0)

Even if art was outlawed, it would still be around and also
go underground!. A building can be very boring but it is
still a design - still art!.

Even uncivilized people have art so I don't think it is possible!.
We would have to be different creaturs all together!.

People like to relate to one another and this is done in a
huge way through art - art communicates - even just letter
writing can be considered art and it began that way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Taking culture from society would be like plucking the stars from the sky, you see every person on this planet exist with the ingredients of culture in their DNA, and to take away something so important would be to change the very fabric of life in which we live!. Culture is a subject that does not have to be taught gust guided, I never was taught to breathe I jest started doing it because it was in my DNA, and so if culture were ever taken out of the presence of society it would in time reappear because it is apart of us all!. So wither it be the little boy in the back of the class doodling instead of listing to the teacher, the baby slowly building a castle with blocks or a mother humming a little tune while cooking dinner culture would surly find its way back to the eyes, hearts and minds of the people!. Is culture necessary!? No!. Could or would life go on without it!? Maybe but who would want to live in a world with no essence no since of style or feeling, can culture be taken away!? No!. Because no matter how much you try to hide it or cover it up it will still linger in the background!.

P!.S!. and just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there!.

No, but only because I see Art as an inevitable reality in the human condition!. Even if you were to somehow rid all forms of art as we know it, and cut of are ability to paint, write, sculpt, build, and play instruments, humans would make or label something else art!. We have an incessant need to continuously label more and more things as such, we see it in all aspects of our ability due to the most basic definition of art: An Expression through mediums!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't mean this as a flippant answer as I am a fan of some modern art!.!.!.

Not if it's Tracy Emin's!. An unmade bed and a tent with the names of people she has slept with sewn into them are no more worthy of being preserved for posterity than the contents of anyone's bedroom and far less than many!. The very fact that people talk about her, sadly, will make her feel that she must be doing something right, a completely bogus argument!.

Damien Hirst's work, on the other hand, at least hints at classical themes in an Andy Warhol-like reproductive way!.
