Question: Some questions on the meanings of life!?
from my humble perspective, without happiness there is no reason to live!. goals and life wishes are founded on the knowledge that happiness will follow from them!. some people find pleasure in helping others!. some people find pleasure in doing drugs!. some people seek happiness in a god (I'm atheist)!. many find happiness in others (loved ones)!. take away happiness or remove all opportunities to achieve happiness or destroy all ideas tied to happiness and people lose the will to live!. now for the questions:

is it safe to assume, taking into consideration what is mentioned above, that the meaning of life is happiness!?

is it ethical to only seek personal happiness knowing that others are suffering and you have the ability to attempt to help!? or, does it make the individual just as bad as those inducing the suffering because of the choice to not take action!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Life has no meaning!. It's a category mistake!. By suggesting that life has a meaning you are presupposing that it has a purpose, and purpose in turn implies a design!. I don't believe that life, or the Universe, were innately designed by anyone!. It just is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the meaning of life can be the pursuit of happiness but if you never know the down side the upside isn't as worthwhile because you don't really know how sweet it really is!.

what is ethical is not always what it right!. as long as you break no laws something is ethical but if something is right it has more to do with morals or personal principles!. or even what is publically acceptable!.

so really just live by your own principles and stand with your own character and always do what feels right to you!. ethics is just like politics, it changes with time and with who is in power!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Emotions are a gift from God!. (you know, the one that doesn't exist)Pleasure is explained in Psalm 36:8;!. Evolution cannot explain pleasure- even the most complex chemicals do not experience bliss!. However, the Bible states that God " gives us richly all things to enjoy" ( 1 Timothy 6:17)!. So, it would appear that personal happiness is okay, but not to seek it only, The Bible tells you to "fill your storehouse" and out of the abundance to supply others!. When you truly walk with The Lord, He will put you in a position which will enable you to help others!. Those who induce the hardship, will be dealt with in The Lord's timing!. Remember, vengence is The Lord's!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I'm not an atheist, but this is what I think!. I agree that happiness is a goal, but the more you try to please yourself, the more it evades you!. As my life begins to ripen I see that I am most happy when the people around me are happy, and I become happier making other people happy!. My religion says that the person who tries to keep their life, ends up losing it, and the person who tries to give their life away, ends up finding it!. In Christianity their is a joy, a peace, a happiness that you obtain now, but we defer that really great happiness to a later blessed time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it is true, most people including you believe in this!. but as you mentioned you are an atheist, and so am i, so i think there is no, um REASON really, no purpose, but you are alive and you were chosen by complete random act of nature out of billions and billions of possibilities!. to demonstrate how non-emo my response is supposed to be, think about this;

you are a water drop, the world is a pool!. your ripples cast off to effect the ripples around you!. your ripple will continue on forever, effecting the path and over all shape of the pool!. did you drop there for a reason!? no, it just happened; this is the way life is!.

though i do agree that happiness should be strived for!. i mean hey, if there isn't anything good around, why are we even putting up with life!? not meaning to be emo or anything! :b

hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com
