Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There is not doubt that these are the times of great uncertainty!. The sources of our current uncertainties are manifold!. Some of the uncertainties have been with us all along since ancient times ancient when, some of them were born out of changing time the effects of which are still lingering on today, as for instance, industrial revolution followed closely by progress of scientific ideals and methods, and now the advent of information technology coupled with the consequence of the past misuse of resources are the things that make up our climate for debates, discussion and argument!. There has been big questions about the universe, about the nature of life, and existence, then lofty questions about God and His creation, further along the way as we facilitated more and more resources and articulate mean into our live to have greatest ever access to all things including our environment and ourselves we come to ask as how dangerous our knowledge and our ability to use that knowledge for or against ourselves could be – are we safe in our own hand!? Are we wise enough to develop merely for the sake of development, to explore things simply because they are there for us to be explored!? We have debated hard about issue of relating our survival and wellbeing, without reach any conclusions!. Then there are ongoing political turbulence in the world, affecting mostly the poor and disadvantaged!. The credit crunch will pass and in few years recession will too, but it will take long time for the confidence to restore as we know now how easily things can start falling apart!. The Question: The most definitive question of our time, however, is about ourselves, about the nature that we are, and about the relation we have to the rest of the world, and our environment!. We are asking, what in simple words means, where to go from here!? Which way to develop further to ensure peace, prosperity and even the survival of human race!? Www@QuestionHome@Com There are a few that come to mind: How will we meet and solve the twin pressing concerns of our time ie how will we end extreme poverty and preserve the environment!? also, there is the general question of how we as a global civilisation will survive our own adolescence so that we can become the mature society we have long aspired to be ie an equal, just, tolerant, diverse culture which would help individuals reach their potential who would then make contributions back to society so that both would evolve together harmoniously!. Alternative trajectories for the world represent varying degrees of failure even if some are a lot more probable than the ideal above!. Some others represent a descent into chaos and self-destruction!. Wondering how we get from here to the mature equal society is probably the question that I would suggest is one of the most definitive for our time because present governments and policy makers can look at these issues now eg the environment and poverty and act while there is still time!.
