So in a sense, freedom of speech is freedom to lie, because you can express a point with bias or while imposing your beliefs!. With controversial topics debated with personal opinions, like creationism, it's difficult to tell what a lie is!. How is truth measured in ones argument!? Similarly with an event like the holocaust, if one bases their opinion on feelings rather than fact, it is possible for them to lie!. I value freedom of speech and I think that for it to be fair, personal responsibility needs to be taken by the individuals expressing themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com No it does not!. Protection of freedoms does not extend to fraud!. Difference of opinion or belief, yes, but once something is proved, we are obliged to change our belief to suit the truth!. One of the ten commandments is not to bear false witness!. People who lie in court go to jail for perjury!. You cannot make a false police or fire report!. Lies are not a right and dishonesty in science is unacceptable!. There may be a mistaken beleif, such as for many centuries they thought the earth was flat, but once proven, resistance is dishonest and futile!. To fly in the face of fact is foolish, but to change too quickly is to run after every new theory only to be disappointed later!. We are not getting gold in the form we see in the shops!. We find it mixed with dust and rock!. We know how to separate gold from it!.
