topic:
it sounds good when you say it but what would its implications in a society in which that were true these are the problems i see arising form such a society

1) currently we as a society have decided that in order for those who are disadvantaged in some way to be treated equality we must give them what amounts to special benefits if this so city were to keep with this practice and apply it to their entire society they would have to give some kind of benefit to every single person because everyone is disadvantaged in one way or another

2) everyone would have to make the same income no matter what their job because to pay someone more or less then someone else would be unequal and thus not allowed ie: doctor gets payed the same amount as a fast food worker dose

3) problem 2 leads to problem three which is no motivation to do anything other then the bare minimum or easiest job

4) in order for everyone to be equal no one can be better then anyone else that means if one child in a class room has a F then everyone else must have an F

5) rules one, two, and three would lead to issue four no advancement in any field!. why!? because as mentioned in rule 4 the lowest achieving member of society would set the cap for everybody else and assuming this members archives no more or possibly even less then the current most under achieving member of our society then no advancement could possibly be made!.

and finally because not advancement could be made within any kind of reasonable time period this society would fall apart at some point

sorry about any miss spellings

Very good argument!. Keep in mind though, that the founding fathers did not say exactly that, they said "created" equal!. This does not mean that we stay equal!. Otherwise no criminals could be sent to prison!. Theres another point for you!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

If we are all equal that completely eliminates Competition!. Removing one of the few meanings of life!. Survival!.

A world where we are determined the amount of respect we deserve based on how much we contribute to society!.

equal rights yes!. But equal respect!? No!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

what they call what you are trying to disseminate is socialism!. socialism has never and will never work!. it goes against the basic human condition that makes us strive for something better!. every part of our society advances the society as a whole!. if there is no street sweeper the is no place to drive a Rolls Royce!. without tires the Rolls is not going to move!.
all things from the aluminum wheels on your Rolls Royce to your diet Pepsi can to the homeless gentleman who collected the can to get recycled to make the wheels to!.!.!.my guess is you get the point!. each of the accomplishments are made to advance the citizen who undertakes them!. in the end you have your Rolls and the homeless man eats!. 1!. In regard to problem 1, please refer to my answer to problem 2!.

2!. Different professions should NOT be paid equally, because they are not of equal value to society!. Professions should be paid based on their actual value as applicable to society, and possibly subsidized based on the job's barriers to entry, i!.e!.: schooling required, skills and talents necessary, and the actual difficulty of the work!. Additionally, jobs that have either high demand for the work and few people willing to perform the work, or the other way around, should have their salaries adjusted accordingly!.

3!. This problem should be effectively solved by the solution to problem 2!.

4!. Although the desire to make everyone equal across the board is, on some levels, admirable, holding all students to the lowest standard will only stifle our best and brightest, hurting society greatly!. This would also remove any motivation to excel in school!. Instead, A students should be grouped together in a class, and B through F should be banded into their own classes according to their aptitude, and commensurate tutoring should be given to them to improve as much as is possible!.

5!. Just as in schooling, people that show a less-than-average competency at their job should receive additional training!. This should be mandatory, as should the tutoring!. As the less competent improve, so will the average level of competency!. This is desirable, and will bring overall advancements in competency, productivity, and expertise in each field!. Exceptionally gifted or productive workers should receive bonuses from the government, similar to Nobel prizes on a much smaller scale!. This will further motivate development of job skills and will improve the overall quality of work performed!.

There should be NO involuntary unemployment!. The government should regulate jobs and identify industries that need additional workers!. Certain industries, such as exports manufacture, can always benefit from additional workers, and there are many more industries where this is true!.

Obviously, this is an idealized socioeconomic system, and would probably have too many issues in real life to be effectively implemented!. I hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
