Question: Essay on Faith, please read, it's 2am and I need criticism before I can finally sleep in peace!.!?

“Faith”

To what extent do I have to be tested until I lose my faith!? I know that answer too well!. Days like today, where I stay up to 3am catching up with homework which was due days prior, is when I find myself ragged and tired!. Weeks like this when my friends I’ve known for years won’t talk to me and I barely even have the will in me to ask why, is when I find myself depressed and lonesome!. Months like this month when I have to vindicate my every action and move, is when I find myself distraught and down heartened!. Years like this year when I put all faith and hope into a single being, for one chance to make it all better; only to have prayers gone unheard, is when I finally give up hope!.
In times like these, I rely less upon others and more upon myself!. If you had seen me six months prior to today, you would see a boy praying his hearts out so that he may get that 4!.0 or for his mother to have less asthma!. If you were to stand where I am now, while I type this statement, you would see a ragged and tired shell of something I used to be!. Never in my life neither had I been so stressed out nor had I ever felt so taken for granted and overworked!.
In my religion, I was taught that god was to love all his ‘children’ and that he cared, yet I have seen no love!. Since the age of six, I had always had a list of things I would remind myself to pray about before going to sleep: world peace, starving children, the safe keeping of my family, the maintaining of my grades in school, and the hope that I would find happiness among other things!. It is a depressing thing that in the 9 years that followed, I had given up one by one of each of the items in my ‘checklist’ until by the beginning of junior year, I only prayed that I wouldn’t find myself in slums of depression any longer!.
To this day, my faith in a greater being is skeptical at most, because never once has this being shown a hint of answer to my prayers!. The final straw was when I finally realized it was hopeless!. Nine years, nine bloody years of praying, five of which centered on a single prayer, for what!? By the time my third year of high school started, I had finally seen the foolishness of my faith, the entire concept of your life in the hands of another being is ludicrous!.
I would say I regret minute of every day wasted in those nine years of prayer!. The final straw which broke me was the realization that nothing was ever going to get better, regardless of how much I prayed, that it was all in me!. God, I would say now, is not some deity to aid and love you in your life!. Faith in a higher being is a laughable concept!. God, in fact I would say, is not in, but is, you and me!. Faith and love does not lie within a bond between you and god, but you and yourself!. Only when you can finally realize that you are your own god, will you be able to answer your own prayers and find happiness, because I know now that I am!.

Apparently you are 15 years old now!. You are stressed out, taken for granted and overworked!? School work!?

Let me tell you that the great majority of self-identified atheists in this forum will say they abandoned God when they were teenagers!. It is the fundamental conflict of teenagers to try and wrestle with the world and especially to gain independence from their parents!. Teenagers naturally see God as an extension of the parents control over them!. To be your own god is the same as being independent not only of God but of your parents also!.

You pray for others but you are like a magician trying to get your magic trick to work and it won't!. You can't manipulate God so you give up!. God isn't a magic genie in a bottle that you can command!. You think it should be all about you but it isn't!.

Faith is not forcing, so realizing "I am" is not faith, unless one is not forcing!.

Prayer is not forcing, but listening and attuning!. In terms of Energy, one person asking poverty to be healed in the world's billions is one portion of Energy for a few minutes, in the balance with billions who are ignoring God's Light and Love, which would be the answer to poverty!.

By being receptive to God's Mind and Truth, one's prayer attunes one to those, one becomes more Mindful and able to appreciate Truth, hence more like a 4!.0 type!.

So, imo, you have strong Faith, and you have found out "the hard way" that God is not a cosmic bellhop!.

You are to be commended for your 9 years of prayer!.

God is omnipresent, and that includes you!. The distance between God and you is the veiling between you and God!.

Yes, true God lives within us!. We are a spark of God!. When we pray ( remember we pray for good things only) we are thinking positive and our prayers in fact guide us- for instance, we pray for the starving children, but this prayer will lead us into positive action when we see a starving child!.!.we feed the child or help it to sustain itself!. When we pray for peaceful world, we learn to maintain peace!. When we pray for good grades, we also work towards it!. Sometimes our prayers fail (or they seem to) but it is not God who has failed us ,but ourselves!.

If you can, get a copy of "Bhagavat Gita" by Swami Chinmayananda and go through it slowly, never hurry!. Read and understand, you need not attend any Management School, you will be a master of every situation in life!.Bhagavath Gita is not anything religious but a lesson in how to deal with life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm happy that you finally understood that there is no God!. Depending on someone else dehumanizes us!. An individual who can stand the many challenges of life on his own is worthy of being a decent human being!. The many, like 90% percent of the world, who believe in a higher power are fooling themselves!. These individuals are asking for help and charity!. Believing in God is simply put, wishful thinking!. And it is very easy and comforting to believe in a God than the contrary!. It is very difficult to not believe in a God!. And we all know that overcoming difficulties is what makes life worth living!. Now that you overcame the foolishness of a belief in God, you can finally take a firm control over your life!. You are now free!. You have the liberty to paint your life the way you like!. You've finally broken free from the chain of religion!. I'm proud of you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are a very deep person with a conviction!.I have been where you are now myself and it was just as uncomfortable!.After reading some of these postings I have come to the conclusion they are good and here's one more!.I find it interesting, especially when you get to the point where you realize "God helps them whomsoever help themselves!."We all don't have but are a piece of God!.We are all a piece of the jigsaw puzzle!.If you were to get everyone's answer on this question in the whole wide world you would then see the entire picture if they answered it!.I might add that your prayers are heard by all of us and you are not the only one to pray for them!.We all have and please continue to pray for them to return back from across the ocean safe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hats off to you!

Indeed, it is a marvelous attempt on a vital subject 'faith'!. There is not a single flaw!. Initially I thought you are going to take us towards some mean hopes and aspirations!. But to my wonder you have kept up the spirit and elevated the subject uniformly!. From beginning to the end, it shows your real caliber!. Keep it up!. I wish you all the best!. Here are some more tips!.

Have faith in yourself and faith in the infinite universal store-house of knowledge and power!. Faith is the 'eternal elixir' which gives life, power and action to the impulse of thought!. Faith is a state of mind that may be induced by self-suggestion!. Faith is the starting point of all accumulation of riches!. Faith is the basis of all 'miracles' and all 'mysteries' which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science!. Faith is the only anti-dote for failure!. Faith is the element, the 'chemical' which when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with infinite intelligence!. Faith is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought, created by the finite mind of man, into its spiritual equivalent!. Faith is the only agency through which the cosmic force of infinite intelligence can be harnessed and used by man!. Faith removes limitations, restrictions and conditions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is great when people realize that what they thought was awakening is really falling asleep!. Science now shows us that a one month old baby ir more able neurologically than a three month old baby!. That is a clue!.

To say what I want would use up to many words!. My advice therefore is to delve into the writings and published workshops of Jerry and Esther Hicks regarding the law of attraction!. Life IS supposed to be fun!. Cheers!

Well calling yourself a god is a dangerous road to go down without first realizing that if you are one then everyone else must be a god!. It is perfectly normal to feel the way you do and even better to question your faith!. Once you start to question your beliefs you will find that you will be stronger for it once you finally start to believe in something again!. Your fifteen years old don't take things in your life so seriously and you will have a better time in high school!. Getting good grades is important but so is relaxing and being a teenager!. It is a balance and right now you are stressing the balance too far in one direction!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You confuse "faith" with "religion"!.

Faith is a certainty that the principles that you believe and live for are essentially right, according to your own values!.

Religion is just an attempt to organize and direct "faith" according to a defined set of principles, often called dogma!.

One can have faith without being "religious" just as many people can be religious without having much faith!.

Your crisis is not a lack of faith but a lack of confidence; blaming the "dogma" for your own lack of faith in yourself!.

You have essentially asked your religion to do the work for you, rather than having faith in your own abilities!. You've prayed "do this task FOR me and I'll believe in you"; rather than "give me the strength to believe in myself so that that I can accomplish this task!." Www@QuestionHome@Com
