Question: Humanities question!?!?!?
Buddhism never acquired the same importance in China that Hinduism has always had in India!. What effect has this had on the history of the two countries, both in ancient times and today!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
India is the birthplace of Hinduism and Buddhism!.

if you read the history of religions it is seen that what became called/known as Hinduism (term coined by westerners) dates as far back as they can reach in time!.!. meaning it goes back to the very beginning of world history and civilization itself ie way back over 7000 yrs -more like 10,000 yrs!. No one can actually trace the beginning of this religion!

It is still a widely practiced and living religion in many parts of the world, chiefly India, Sri lanka etc!.

Buddhism is more recent in historical terms and although it is widespread in India it is even more widely practiced in other countries -Japan, China, Sri lanka so on!. i would say that the state has more control on the society in China compared to a secular and democratic India where all religions are allowed to co-exist and flourish!.

Hinduism is a prime example of an unorganized religion that has stood the test of all time because of the core principle of live and let live!. There is an openness and all are welcome way of life that was meant fro all humanity!.
Buddhism is a slightly more organized religion and maybe it is the reason for its differing importance in the political system of china!.

Buddhism shares a lot of principles with the Hindu religion!.
The effect can be stated as -

1 Hinduism is centrally placed on principles of non-violence and peace, and the inherent principle that all paths lead to teh One and only God!. Like all rivers reach the Ocean eventually!.

Historically, India as a nation, with a majority of some 80% of the population practicing Hinduism, has never attacked or made a first strike on any nation since Christ was born! The same cannot be said of China!. India won its independence through non-violent and non-co-operation methods entirely!.

2 While Buddhism does not actually advocate violence or war, it does incorporate active martial elements and training, even though the Buddha himself did not incorporate such principles in the founding!. In Japan and China almost all martial arts and training are chiefly Buddhists based in Buddhists temples and schools and taught by the masters!.
There is more of course, but not enough time or space to write a thesis here!.
But it is a very interesting question, thanks!.
