Question: Could you ever forgive the murderer of!.!.!.!?
Rachel's Challenge came to my school a while ago and they played a video of Rachel's dad speaking about the killers, referring to them by name, and said that he forgave them!. Do you think you could ever forgive someone who did this to such innocent people or loved ones!?

*For those of you who don't know, Rachel's challenge is a program set up by Darrel Scott, the father of Rachel Scott who was the first person to be killed in the Columbine massacre!. The program is meant to support kindness and ethical behavior etc!. It was a really moving program and has changed my life for the better (no exaggeration)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I admire anyone that can absolutely say they forgave someone for killing a loved one!. I see programs on television where people have gone to prison to see the perpetrator that murdered their son, daughter, etc!. I think it takes a very spiritual and forgiving individual to overcome such a anger such as this and I just don't know what I would not being in this situation!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

All things are forgivable, but i find the columbine shootings extra forgivabe because the shooters were hated by their peers because they were outcasts!. They were bullied and taunted, so the hate that was exhibited toward them was the reason that their hate was so extreme for everyone else!.

Was what they did right!? No!.
Was it understandable!? For the most part!.
Is it forgivable!? Yes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes, i frankly forgave the murderer of my son!. he (my son) was shot by a drunk in alaska not in a school in colorado by other students but it's the same deal!. forgiveness is necessary for peace of mind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd like to say so, but I really do not think so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess it depends on the circumstances of the murder!. If one of my family members was killed and the murderer thought it was just good sport and fun, I would want revenge!. I know forgiveness is supposed to be the more nobel path to take, but in a situation like I described above, I would want to be the one to pull the lever on the electric chair!.

On the other hand, if the murderer was not a sociopath but suffered from delusions or hallucinations that could not be controlled, I think I could forgive that person!.

As for someone like a drunk driver killing a family member, I would want that person to rot in jail for a while at least until cured of alcoholism!. I have a low tolerance for people using alcohol as an excuse for irresponsible behavior!.
