Question: Can God make a stone he cannot lift!?

I hate this question because it always comes from way-crazy athiests as 'proof' there is no God, but what is the answer!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm Agnostic, and I must admit I don't see why this is any sort of proof of the non-existence of God!.

But here goes!.

Assuming that God is all-powerful, then there is no reason that God couldn't list any stone, no matter how big!. All powerful means that there is nothing you can't do!.

Even if we back away from "all-powerful," it's possible to create something that you can't lift!. Think about this: I can build a "stone" by layering clay until I have something so big I cannot lift it!.

Heck, many human creations (buildings, airplanes, etc!.) cannot be lifted!.

But, in the end, the fact that God is defined as "all powerful" means that the answer is "no!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

got can make life, so is therefore REALLLLLLY powerful, he is a creator and sustainer, so he could do anything he wanted!. he could make a stone so heavy he couldn't lift it if he wanted to, but if god decided he wanted to, the stone would reduce to the weight of a feather!.

this answer is coming from a 15 year old, my religion is purely from god, as my family is not religious, i don't belong to a church, and one day i was just inspired to read the bible!.!.!.!.so my view of God is not influenced by what other people have said

There isn't an answer - you dont have to defend your god or your belief in your god you have an inalienable right to make your own reality and to converse, or not, with whomever you please!.

The key feature of omnipotence that may people miss is the frame of reference!. Like a car is moving left or right depending on which side I am on!. From one reference he couldn't lift the rock and on the other he could, satisfying the situation!.

I think the closest physical thing to it would be the big bang!. Was there something before it!? We can't see before the big bang since all particles came from it, but changing our point of view we possible could!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sure if he wanted to he could!. if you accept that God can do anything then this question is easy!. the answer is yes!. it is more of a question of faith than a way of proving that he doesn't exist!. i mean if we are wrong then what harm is it in believing in God but if we are right then our faith will be rewarded!. wouldn't you say it is safer to cya than believe that all of this was just an accident which when you think about it seems pretty unlikely as math has found that nothing is random!. If lifting something is a matter of choice, and you choose not to do it, then you can't do it, so, the answer is yes!.
