The categorical Imperative is a Kantian theorem!. In the categorical imperative you raise an act to the level of a universal to see if it works, essentially!.
For example "Lying":
If you elevate lying to a universal law (Which means everything is a lie) then everything you've ever heard or know was a lie and the universe can't function!. There's too much contradiction in the statement "Everyone Lies!." The very act of stating such is a contradiction "If everyone lies is true then the statement everyone lies is untrue and there for an impossibility!."

Kant's refrain for the Categorical Imperative is thus:
"Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
