Question: How do we have the power to chose, if everything has a predetermined destiny!?
How do we have the power to chose, if everything has a predetermined destiny!? If everything happens for a reason !. !. !. how do we have the power to choose!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Why would I assume that everything has a predetermined destiny!?

Such a conclusion would be directly refuted by humanities understanding of how our universe operates at a fundamental level!.
Modern physics has discovered the uncertainty principle and wave/particle duality!?
Waves of probability in case you are wondering!.

So to assume that a particular happenstance, event, moment in time, etc!. is predetermined would require one to reject direct empirical observations of nature at an intrinsic level!.

But that is the least of my concerns regarding your question!.

Because physics does not liberate the will of a conscious mind either!.

There are few terms that need to be defined adequately if I want to be able to address your question in any meaningful sense!.
What exactly do you mean when you speak of power!?
What exactly do you mean when you say choose!?
Power over what exactly/ the outcome the choice itself!?
Choose by what process of selection/ what choices qualify as one having power over!? Do chioces exist that one does not have power over!?

I am sorry but the way your question is currently formatted I can honestly say that there is no way for me to give a philosophical answer coherently unless I make many assumptions!.

Suffice to say often freewill is not about choice!.
It is about ownership of ones own person, my will is free because no one else owns the entity of self I call me!.
Will is the being responsible for my actions!.
I am not willing nor rationally able to point a finger of blame at predestined fate as the reason I did one thing or another!.
I have the power to assume responsibility for my own life or the power to claim that I am not responsible for my actions!.
But philosophical conjecture is a side issue really in the above definition of freewill!.
The reason is because society will not likely hear me out if attempt to explain that my part in a bank robbery was "predetermined" no definitely not, more likely what will happen is I will be held responsible for my part regardless of musing about destiny, fate, determinism etc!.

That is really what the debate boils down at the end of the day!.
Being practical!.

Your question is very much timely!. For an instance, many people hate the mere idea of fate and destiny!. It makes them feel like they do not have control over their lives!. The power you are referring to is called the freedom!. The real question is, "Do we have any kind of freedom!? Then what is freedom!?"

By the way of the Buddha, I look in to my self for answers!. Then I see that every aspect of my future is going to be reflected by the acts of my presence!. What ever I do now will have an effect on the future events to come!. But the real question is, if I intentionally try to act apart from my natural behavior, will it change the future!?

If you remember "The Matrix" movie where Neo meets Oracle, she predicts that he is going to break a vase!. Then she asks, would he has broken it unless she has said so!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

This does seem a paradox!.
It is all because we live in a world where time exists!.

Where time does not exist or at least does not
exist as we know it, there is no power to choose,
however, "where" and "when" We live now, there IS
power to choose as well as accountability for what
we choose!.

Where time does not exist as we know it, all is already known including the "future" of what we don't currently know!. We are still,
in our time frame, responsible for choosing what
is best - time causes us to be held accountable and causes
the power of choice!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The choice is an illusion but it must be made!. It is simply that while we see other choices, we cannot and will not choose them!. Thus we choose the predetermined course!. Think of it as going from point A to point B!. There are many ways to get there, but you can only go one way because that is the way you are built!. If you are to get there, knowingly or unknowingly, you must choose to take that predetermined path!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I tell you I am going to punch you in the face, you have the choice to stop me or to take the punch!.

The world around us may be beyond our control, but we ourselves control how we react to it!.

You view time from a singular standpoint, which is a mistake!. All events are occurring at all times simultaneously!. We are simply on one path of events, with the power to shift to a different path of events when we choose between two or more possible options!. These events may force others to make choices as well, but that is for them to make the choice of how to react!.

At the moment that I press submit, there is simultaneously a path of time where I have not chosen to submit this, but I have made the choice to follow the path where I do, and see how it affects the rest of my life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We don't have a predetermined destiny!. We determine our destiny by seeking or not seeking God's will in our lives!. It is God's will that we all be healthy ,prosperous, and when we die come to live with him forever!. Many things that we do or not do prohibit us from receiving blessings that God has for us!. Unforgiveness is the major cause of sickness!. Unbelief is a major cause of lack!. Not giving your first fruit of increase causes all your money to be cursed!. Free will and predetermined destiny are opposites!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Even better - what if we have the power to choose our own predetermined destiny, but we'll never realise it!?

edit: Think Tank: Ah, but you stopping the vibrations could be an effect in itself, and the vibrations themselves have become the cause!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The most sensible answer I can think of for this is interupting cause and effect, so that the effect isn't so storong!. If you pluck the strings of a guitar it will make a note, if you stop the vibrations then the note well stop!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, we have the power to choose!.
But the relative impact of our choices would not, I think, immediately change the course of "destiny!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no Predetermined destiny!.!.!. strings that r plucked don't stay at the same tune (vibration), mechanical oscillations r equilibrium point, throught it's course!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

!.!.!.be responsible and make up your own mind!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
