There are two main elements to personal freedom: the decisions one makes and the environment where they make these decisions!. For example an independently minded individual can make choices to lead a life unencbumered by responsibility and materialism but if they live in Hitler's Germany or modern Dafur they can never be free!.

Conversely, an individual can be born in a free society but not embrace their freedom and be a slave to their job or possessions by not rising above their instincts and desires!.

Ultimately, freedom always must be fought for and defended at every turn!. Even if you're fortunate enough to inherit cultural freedom from your forefathers you still must defend it and fight to overcome yourself and gain personal freedom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think freedom is something that the government can't really give to the people!. There will always be a conflict of interest!. Whether it's natural resources, poverty, disease, socio-economics, or something else!. People have demand it for themselves!. I think it's foolish to believe that the government will just give it to the people!. People can't rely on government, but the government has to rely on the people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
