Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Marx believed economic production was the determining factor in of mankind's awareness and development!.

Freud believed there were sexual and death instincts, that early childhood events were important, and that social structures tended, when outmoded, to cause more problems in people's psychology!.

GNY is more about guy vs guy, old Bill vs enemy Catholic father and son, with a romantic triangle (Johnny loves Jenny, betrays the son, Amsterdam (not a likely name for an Irishman, btw)), than about class conflict!. Marx would term these "lumpenproletariat," or useless workers vis a vis making "the Revolution!."

Anyway, that is early Marx, not the later Marx of "The Critique of the Gotha Program," which is a more evolutionary perspective!.

"Psycho" is a thriller supposedly documenting a "mother's boy" who could not develop beyond her sphere of influence!.("smother love/control"), who then couldn't handle his mother's sexuality per her new lover!. Ew!. So, murdering them both, kind of "Oedipal," then internalizing her via guilt, then the guy murders other women whom he's attracted to, but then his "mother" side says "no," so they have to be murdered!.

Freud might say that was crazy, alright!. His own mother's sexual affair with his same-age first cousin during their teenage years apparently affected his notion of sex!.

Imo both of these "analyses" are time-worn, inaccurate and illogical in many basic and important ways--and the movies "suck"/are unnecessarily manipulative, distorting, and depressing!.

"Creation: Artistic and Spiritual," O!. M!. Aivanhov, would help clear the atmosphere!.
