You will learn that you increase your burdens and decrease the likelihood of success by taking yourself too seriously!. Nothing can take precedence over the work of your status sphere--this world or the next!. Very important is the work of preparation for the next higher sphere, but nothing equals the importance of the work of the world in which you are actually living!. But though the work is important, the self is not!. When you feel important, you lose energy to the wear and tear of ego dignity so that there is little energy left to do the work!. Self-importance, not work-importance, exhausts immature creatures; it is the self element that exhausts, not the effort to achieve!. You can do important work if you do not become self-important; you can do several things as easily as one if you leave yourself out!. Variety is restful; monotony is what wears and exhausts!. Day after day is alike--just life or the alternative of death!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Plain hard work does not neccessarily pay off!. If you're a champion ditch digger, able to dig a ditch faster than anyone, you're not likely to see a huge payoff if you don't take steps to advance!. Sure, you might get paid $12/hour instead of $10/hour like your slower coworker, but no company is going to give you a huge salary just because you can dig fast!.

However, if you apply yourself to bettering your position while still putting in the hard work, then you can see a payoff!. Maybe you'll observe that the backhoe operator isn't digging in the most efficient manner, so maybe you'll convince the foreman to let you operate it for a day!. If you succeed, then you might advance from ditch digger to backhoe operator!.

Or maybe you notice your cowworkers slacking off while your boss is at another job site!. So you ask your boss to give you a more supervisory role!. Sure, it's more work for you, but can again lead to advancement!.

So in summary hard work by itself doesn't neccessarily pay off, but working hard in a smart way is more likely to do so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hard work pays off IF:

You're working hard at something somebody WANTS!.
You're working hard at something not everyone can do!.
You're working hard at something you're actually GOOD at!.

I mean, I could be the world's best paper-plane maker, but if there's no market for paper planes, how good I am won't matter a bit!.

Or I could be the world's best pancake-flipper, but since almost anyone can flip a pancake, there's no huge call for my skills!. That won't pay off!.

Or a guy could work hard at being a great basketball player!.!.!. but if he's 5-foot-4, he's not likely to ever get paid to do it!.

So hard work is no guarantee of success!.
But avoiding hard work is a pretty sure guarantee of failure!.

It depends!.!.!.

Working hard doesn't pay off just for the sake of working hard!.

What pays off is knowing exactly what you want and focusing on it!. Many times, you have to work A LOT to get what you want!. But as long as you know what you want, the work will ALWAYS pay off!. If you don't know what you want, (and I mean specifically what you want), the work will never pay off!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
