We are all bound to disagree on a vast amount of things!. Many times in history disagreement has resulted in war/fighting!. To clarify this answer we must first consider that in this case the notion of peace when used in this context is used to describe an absence of war!.!.!. specifically because peace as a whole is not achievable by humans given our nature!. I digress!. By having a bigger stick then the people you disagree with it gives you a bargaining chip so to speak!. It allows you to achieve a sort of diplomacy through the threat of force!. If a person you disagree with isn't concerned about the ramifications of telling you to "shove it" , then they would never listen to you!. So in short, a bigger stick can be used as a balancing force to impede leaders to use military options that would lead to war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com This is actually a very very old philisophical problem dating back to the ancient Greeks!. The basic idea that 'justice is the interests of the stronger' has been debated throughout history!. Many have argued that it is the practical reality of the world but others argue that peaceful coexistence needs a more ethical approach, requiring something deeper than just raw power!. Peace can be brought about by many means!. Gandhi is an example of non-violent change, but then again Gandhi's methodology wouldn't have worked against the Nazis!.
