Question: How do you feel about re-reading books!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I often do, it's like listening to my favourite CDs or watching favourite films over and over!. I do it for the sheer pleasure of the experience - as another person said earlier here, it's like visiting an old friend!. Plus I'm a writer and often I'll re-read a great novel in a more analytical way, try and nut out what it is, exactly, that makes that book work for me!.

I read a LOT, and I'll always keep a novel that I particularly enjoy - I end up keeping 1 out of every 4 or 5 books I read!. I work in a bookshop, so I never have any shortage of new novels to explore!. I have a growing pile of favourite novels that I re-read on a regular basis - there are close to 100 in that pile so far, and most of them I've read at least 3 times!.

Well, it's the environment that changes!. For instance, I've just had a Sherlock Holmes-fest - re-reading all the old favourites all over again This time I was drinking lots of instant coffee, next time I might be snacking on hot buttery toast and sardines or - with summer coming - a couple of oranges and in part-shade so that the sun's not in my eyes!. It depends on the book, how long ago I read it and whether it's a cold winter night (perfect for re-reading old favourites) or on the lawn under a tree in summer (that's the best environment for new books - but there are no real hard and fast rules)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i don't really like doing this!. however everyone i've ever met enjoys it!. maybe its just a weird thing with me!. even if i really liked the book, i feel that i already experienced the story!. this is the whole point!. going through it again seems pointless to me because there are no surprises or anything!. you already know exactly what's going to happen!.!.the only time i would reread an entire book is if it were for a class and i had to write a paper on it or something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've read Stephen King's Tommyknockers, Cycle of the Werewolf and The Gunslinger (#1) at least 10 times!.!.!. among others!.!. It, 5-6!.!.!. The Stand, 5-6!.!.!.
