The 3rd one sometimes lies and sometimes tells the truth!. The 3rd one is also a werewolf!. You can marry any one of them as long as it is not the werewolf!. You can ask only 1 girl only 1 question!. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I may be approaching this the wrong way, but mathematically this question does not have an answer!. The famous two-door question, when one speaks only the truth and one speaks only lies is a simple binary equation!. Since 0+1=0 all you have to do is come up with a question that crosses both doors ("what would the other door say is the right one!?") and take the other path!. But there is no way to be certain of an answer when you have 0+1+x;x?{0,1}!. Since the first part is a constant, the answer can go either way!. So, I'd say just wait on the island for a full moon and see which one is a werewolf!. Anti-eve, you cannot ask which one is the werewolf because if you ask the werewolf, she could say either of the other two because she can lie!. Then you still don't know!. Totalfan, you cannot ask which one is the liar because if you ask the werewolf, she can say the liar, which doesn't prove or disprove that she is not the werewolf!. Remember, you can only ask ONE girl ONE question!. I was thinking that you could ask a girl what your birthday is!. If you asked the liar, she'd say something wrong, if you asked the truth teller, she'd say it right, and if you asked the werewolf she wouldn't know!. But, this doesn't work because I'm going to assume that all girls know everything which is how they can only speak in absolute truth or absolute lies!. I don't think there is a way to find out because the werewolf could answer anything the same as either of the other daughters!. You could never know if you were asking the werewolf or not, and there would always be the chance that the girl you are asking is the werewolf!. If you can't marry the werewolf, and you can't tell them apart, and the werewolf can answer the same as the others, then you must either guess and if you're lucky you get it correct and if you're not then you must get used to the island life with your dog wife and her difficult family!. While I don't know the math behind his answer, I agree with Paul R that mathematically this cannot work, like 1+0=0!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
