Question: Do you attach your self worth and identity to the experiences of your life!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Neither!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My self worth and identity come from what I think of myself!. The experiences in my life, to some extent give me some knowledge of myself which I might not have had without the experience!.

Am I a function of my experiences, or are my experiences a function of me!? I think they have an influence on one another, but neither forms the other really!.

Self worth and identity come from believing in yourself!. Experiences are passing moments, which reinforce or challenge one's identity or self worth!.

My self worth!?
Not really!.
Identity!? Quick answer yes!.
Your self worth is an interesting question!. It depends on what you think is valuable!. do you believe you are a unique snowflake with a purpose in this world thats specific only to you!? Or do you believe that you are the opposite, and just another animal that is surviving in the universe and made of the same materials as other humans, a flower, or a grey fox!?
Or is it somewhere in between the two!?
One's experiences should shape beliefs, values, and decision making process!. Perhaps directly, or it gives one insight into future events!.
Although, now that I think of it, all those experiences that are absorbed by the person can potentially affect how you will be and act in the future and as such is influential on worth (both your own feeling of worth and how others view you)!. You are judged (valued) by your actions!. And your actions reflect you!.
So I guess the quick answer is yes!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Thought provoking question! I looked back to understand what is ' experience' in life!. An experience is what I undergo as a person ( me) and without it , it will never be my experience !. Someone else`s experience does not affect me!. Thus I agree that there is identity to the experiences of my life!.
My self worth!? To me it looks that knowing one`s self worth comes after the experience and not become !. I enter an experience not knowing my worth and at the end of it I come out one way or the other with an enhancement or erosion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

'Often, yes!. In all honesty, if we are 'truly' honest, there are few who do not constitute themselves according to their experiences in their lives, regardless of all the perspective one would give to the contrary!. Ideally we may be given that this is not to be so, but there is the detailed task that comes with maintaining balance; and it is true that such attachment and subsequent measures are illusory, but for now the overwhelming of us do attach to ourselves the measures learned from our existence here in the lower worlds, so powerful and influential is the mission of the ego as aligned and attached to our experiences -- all of them, recalled or not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no, not necessarily- maybe at particular times of financial abundance or a particular job I held!.!.!.my self worth was either high or low or indifferent!. I was happiest when social structure was across the board in regard to my peers while in the military!. there were no extremes necessarily, like in the real world!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, not really because i believe that we all have self worth regardless of our experiences in life!. Our identity is who we are, or believe ourself to be and even if we have had bad role models in our life, it doesn't mean that we will always turn out hating ourself or affecting who the real "us" is!. However, in saying this, some experiences in our life can affect the way we feel and think, so maybe only slightly affect our identity!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not now I don't but there was a time when I did!. I thought of myself as a failure, a person without worth and someone who could never be loved by anyone if they knew of my experiences and actions!. I could not truly love anyone and intimacy was only seen as lust and self gratification!.

I finally realized that my experiences and self worth were those of someone who was searching for an identity!. I did not realize that I already had my true identity and this made all the difference!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
