It is believed that Plotinus and Husserl, for example, realized God-awareness ("One Mind Soul," "Pure Ego")!. For those students able to learn from these, there is confirmation!.

Others, such as Hegel, noted a somewhat-additive process of Truth increasing in the Spirit!.

Others, such as Schopenhauer, found no particular truth, but only artistic statements!. These are particularly susceptible to agonism, i!.e!., per the differing of aesthetic opinions and positions!. Recognition that opinion is "true for you" is a matter of preference belief that certain forms of art are truer is more toward the "debate" aspect!.

Insofar as materiality is reducible to atomistic measurement, the debate becomes moot, within a given Popperian paradigm, aka any current framing of falsifiable theories!. Data determines the outcome, and a new, lower or limited scientistic truth and mindset obtains!.

Wittgenstein distinguished between philosophizing which accepted the hegemony of science, and philosophizing which regarded science as a subject for further awareness!. Dennett would be an example of the former, and Husserl and Wittgenstein examples of the latter!.

It depends on which philosophical view you take!.

You can spend your life thinking whether it's worth getting married, considering the billions of people of the opposite gender in the right age group to choose from and the likelihood you''ll never even encouter even 0!.1% of them!. The odds of you dating them are so marginal that it's virtually non-existent!. Seeing the logic of this, one could spend their life thinking what the truth of the matter is, or one could just dive right in like most people do and hopefully strike it lucky!. I think people take it too far by saying they've found a "soul mate" though, because of the statistics!. Logic isn't necessarily happier than dreams though,so whether philosophy's about this or that, sometimes it's nice to have an opinion and feel that your opinion's right, even though history shows you'll most likely end up being wrong or discredited by some future person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The word "philosophy" is ambiguous!. I tend to see it as (a) asking questions about general aspects of the world and (b) answer to those questions!.

Most people think about the answers and forget the questioning!. That's what leads to the absurd notion that it's all just opinion - but opinion doesn't necessarily mean you thought it through!. One of those opinions is the idea that truth is relative and therefore opinion - but that's an assertion of truth!. (It also misinterprets the idea of relation, but never mind!.)

If you think of philosophy in terms of answers only, it all seems like just one opinion or another!. It's inquiry and critique that's going on between the voices!. That means it's a conversation!. But the main thing is that all of us are asking questions - we want to know!.

The conversation keeps going because the people talking believe either (a) that they have something true to say, (b) that an answer is possible though unknown, or (c) both!. If you're convinced there's no answer possible, you won't waste your breath on it!. People just don't do things they believe are really impossible!.

So it's definitely a debate, but at bottom it's an inquiry!. Whatever truths we've picked up along the way will probably come out in the long run!. If we haven't agreed on fundamental truths yet, we believe it's possible!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We all have our own idea of what is true!. Philosophy is a debate between many things!. Sit down and think, there are so many answers to one question and so many views on one thing!. Think of Plato and Aristotle, they had complete opposite beliefs on the Good Life, and I held them both true!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy gives you a multi-dimensional look at various things, in search of the truth!. But ultimately until that truth is discovered on whatever subject spoken of, it does essentially remain a debate of opinions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy is an expression of opinion!. Truth is relative, so opinion is the closest we can get!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy is subjective!. It's how every person perceives the world and the mystery of life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
