the bible was inspired by gos but was written by men!. so no!.he had no control over all of it, if any control at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The idea of the "inerrant bible" didn't enter mainstream until the rise of Protestantism, which said that the authority didn't come through the Catholic Church, but that it came directly from God through the bible!. Therefore, the bible had to be correct and unambiguous!. If it is accepted that the bible is man-made, not completely guided by God, then how can we expect to find final authority through the bible, since it would obviously allow too many conflicting interpretations, exactly like what we are seeing today!? The Catholic Church today does not hold that the bible is inerrant, it never has; it expects that clarifications are to be handed down from the Pope!.

The larger theological question is, why has God allowed such a multiplicity of opinions about matters of a theological nature, including the nature of Jesus himself!? Even today while the majority of Christians worldwide see Jesus as God himself, at least at the same level as the Father, the rest, notably the Orthodoxs, do not hold this view!. They haven't for more than a thousand years!. What happens to you if you believed one or the other as Judgement Day arrives!? Do you go to hell because you mistakenly conflated Jesus with God, or because you mistakenly saw Jesus as being subordinate to God!? Is that what is required for eternal salvation---besides believing that Jesus is your Savior, you have to have absolutely the RIGHT set of beliefs about numerous other matters of his theological nature!?

Do I think God had complete control over everything that was written in the bible!? No, he had no control whatsoever!. It's written by man!. Either that, or God had complete control over EVERY version of the bible written!. This would make the Tower of Babel story look like only a preview!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd think that if an omni-max God had written a book it would be a lot easier to read and understand, but the Bible is the most boring and confusing book I've ever read!. The World Christian Encyclopedia claims there to be 33,800 different Christian sects, all supposedly based on the Bible, proof enough that it's vey confusing!. It tells us nothing about God, only about the mind-set of bigotry and cruelty of those humans who wrote it!. Keep in mind that we do not know just who did write it most of the books included in it!. I don't think God (if he exists) had anything to do with it at all!. As Robret G!. Ingersoll said of the Bible, "The case, however, is that the Bible will not bear examination in any part of it, which it would do if it was the word of God!. Those who most believe it are those who know least about it, and priests always take care to keep the inconsistent and contradictory parts out of sight!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
- 2 Timothy 3:16

"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost!."
- 2 Peter 1:21

It all depends upon what you mean by "complete" control!. If you mean that the writers were in some sort of spiritual trance where they were writing without any conscious input on their parts then the answer would be "no"!.

If you mean that the Spirit of God was directing the authors and ensuring that every thing that He wanted to be there was there then the answer is "yes"!.

It's like if an editor in charge was watching them as they wrote and persuading them to write, re-write, add to and omit from the text so that the final story was what He had in mind in the first place!.

2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit!.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work!.

Although I don't believe in any of that religion, I do believe that if you do believe in the Bible, then you must believe in the whole bible, including the verse that says the Bible was written by men who were influenced by the Holy Spirit, which as a part of the trinity, includes God and Jesus!. Therefore you must believe that the Bible was written under complete control of God!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just want to add to the opinions expressed by those who do not believe the Bible to be the true word of God--it has been rewritten so many times that the original version has nothing to do with what's in it today!.

It's the biggest work of fiction ever written!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
