Rationalism doesn't HAVE to be relevant!. It is our choice to consider it important and we do that mainly because of natural selection:

Same as genes evolve toward a code that can produce something useful just because that makes it more likely for them to survive and spread out, thinking also has that tendency!. Ideas that can spread out more easily, that are more likely to be accepted by people and that can overcome deep analysis, are the ones more likely to find to be accepted by many!. Thus, rationalism, which is essential for our developing a question like the one you have posted here, makes extremely likely that you, making the question, and I, answering it, find rationalism itself relevant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Emotionalism in rhetoric almost always carries the day, because most people's emotions rule over their thinking!. Even very intelligent people can be swayed easily by their emotions!. Rationalism is an attempt to see past that and find ideas based on principles and reality instead of emotions and chicanery!. The more people who understand this the better chance right (logical) answers have at besting wrong (manipulative) answers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It counters irrationalism!. Irrational behaviour often results in negative results, so if rationalism can reduce negative results then it's not only relevant but very important as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
