Question: Do we employ the same standards of etiquette of the real life when we are interacting with others on line!?
If someone asked an innocent Q in person, would a nasty online user, reply with the same sarcasm as he would in Y!A!?

Does the privileges of anonymity (which definitely gives one endless immunity for his acts) is a great factor for the rampant trolling in Y!A!?

Is respect really necessary in online dealings, or everyone of us in here has this "silent agreement" that respect, is merely an option!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Assuming this is a genuine question rather than a complaint!.!.!.

People interact differently whenever they use different types of communication!. I, for example, have virtually programmed myself to talk better when I'm on the 'phone!. In person I would tend to relax into my own accent!. I also speak differently when talking face to face with different levels of society, including with professionals!. A friend of mine is a Scot!. With members of her own region she tends to lapse into a more concentrated version of the accent!.

People change depending on the communication media!.

As far as manners are concerned!.!.!.

People, to a large extent, have a social status to create among their peers!. Whether it's the use of knowledge, relative intelligence, sexual proclivities or just physical presence, this is something important to people!. The snappy comeback is typical of this!. In person there are physical characteristics to use!. In anonymous communication, though, there are only the written words!. The misuse of words or the clever use of words (big words that nobody knows the meaning of) are another means of 'proving' something!.

It isn't a 'slight' against you personally, it's just social status trying to gain a foothold!.

My apologies for being so long winded!.

Have patience with them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Respect is as important on-line as in "real" life!. I've had stupid rude answers, and was surprised at myself how it bothered me!. It does get under the skin no matter how it is brought across!.I also have found that if you answer one who has no class, it is a no win situation!. On the contrary;!.!.!.it see-saws to worse things!.

Best to just ignore and move on!.

I just want to add that I have experienced many sympathetic and caring people on line, who outweigh the others!. Infact these people come across stronger than in "real" life,!.!.!.And that is what keeps me on some forums!. It's the sincere, warmhearted, and caring humans, where you can "feel" the goodness, that make a difference!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I try, but the truth is I'm probably nicer in person!. Unless someone is being offensive, I will usually just ignore stupid behavior in public!. On-line, however, I often feel the need to comment on it!.
