Question: What is thought!? Descartes said, "I think; therefore I am"!?

Ok philosophically speaking what is your philosophy on thought!? I think the mind controls thought, but what is thought more deeply!? Pre-planning!? Predetermined!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Descartes used the French word "pense"!. "Pensées", translates as "ideas", which perhaps means something wider than what you might normally think of as thoughts!. You could perhaps rephrase it as: "I have cognition, therefore I exist"!.

Thoughts are a class of mental phenemena, but there may be different ideas about what that class includes!. There are discursive thoughts (where we think in words), but perhaps images could possibly count as thoughts - maybe the the border of what counts as a thought is hazy!?

If you asked "what is thinking!?" I'd give a different answer!. You've got to take into account the fact that people use language differently to avoid the discussion becoming semantics!. This probably isn't a very good answer, but I'll send it anyway in case it helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Thought is what the program of our brain works upon!. Much like a hot bar going through a bar mill!. It twists and warps, imprints and narrows the the work to produce a product which make be a voice, another thought or your fingers upon the keyboard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
