I believe that the human body is borrowed and that the mind or spirit is what matters!.!.!.!.anyone have a detailed philosophy on this!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Some of the different views: Dualism (such as Cartesian dualism): the view that the world consists of two distinct kind of thing which make it up - in this case body and mind, or the physical world and mind!. Cartesian dualism suffers from the difficulty of explaining how two fundamentally different things, such as body and mind, could be connected and therefore have an effect on each other!. Our mind and body evidently have an effect on each other, but as mind has no extension in space, and physical objects do, the view breaks down!. Monism - the view that the world consists of only one type of substance (for want of a better word)!. Here are two versions of this: Idealism - the world consists only of mind - George Berkeley is a Western philosopher who propounded this view!. Hegel later offered a different version!. Materialism - the world consists only of physical things - a very fashionable for much of the last century - those holding to this view would say a person is no more than a physical body!. The popularity of these ideas is strongly influenced by the rise of science - though I don't believe it's the only one which could be considered consistent with the results of Newtonian physics etc!. It's interesting that versions of all these views already existed in the ancient world, and certainly in other parts of the world such as India!. There are some very subtle treatments of this subject!. Thier physical forms are absoloute!. A human can observe their body and their thoughts but what of spirit!? You cannot observe your spirit it is not something you have it is what you are!. It is the true self!. You can observe everything about your mind and body!. But spirit you must attain to being!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I agree that the human body is lent to us and that we should take good care of it!.
