I know from personal experience that not knowing where your life is headed while you see everyone else forming consise plans for their future, all sure of themselves and what they want out of life, can be terrifying!. But believe me when I say no one really knows where their life is really going!. They might have it all planned out, but that in no way means that destiny will take their carefully planned out course!. Destiny has its own plan for all of us!. I don't want to sound like a flake, but it's true!. None of us know what'll happen to hinder our progress!.
All we can do is plan out the near future, and take precautions, but in the end, it really isn't in our hands!.
We all go through periods of time when we're unsure about what we're doing with our lives!. I went through that very same thing last year!. I was so lost I couldn't even see a year ahead!. I had no idea what to do with my life, what major to pick, what courses to take, what carreer to think about, while everyone I knew knew exactly what they wanted out of life!. Even now I'm unsure what a degree in English Literature is going to get me, but I'm taking it a day at a time!. I'm thinking, it's what I like to do, so I'll just have to face the consequences of my choices when I have to!. But that time hasn't come yet!.
So don't be afraid!. Things will fall into place, or they'll end up really messed up, in which case you'll just fix them and move on with your life!. There's no time limit or deadline for figuring out your life!. You're probably going to change your mind about lots of things and go back to the fork in the road and try a different route!.!.!. I have no idea how old you are but you sound quite young from your profile!. You are afraid of the unknown you say, let me take you on a very long but high speed journey!. Stand in my shoes a moment, I am sixty seven, my wife is two years older and we have been married forty eight years!. We have together faced a hundred perhaps a thousand unknowns!. And now, quite soon we face the greatest unknown of all!. One of us will venture forth first and the other will follow soon after because without the love we share there is not a great deal left!. Are we afraid though!? Of course we are but in a way excited too!. If you knew every step of the way before you how boring would that be!. Look for what you want to do with your life, what you want to dedicate your life to and how you want to live!. A life with introspection is a life without aim and integrity!

I find the best examples of those that accomplished something and those that failed in the Bible!. Just look at anyone that has accomplished anything even with opposition, Nehemiah built the wall of Jerusalem, Joshua got the walls of Jericho knocked down, the 10 scouts for Moses said "no way" and never entered the promised land etc!.

Read some of the books by Joni Erickson Tada and what she has done!. Crippled as a teen and she is an accomplished writer and speaker without the ability to move!. Stephen Hawkings has to use a keyboard to even talk, he has done much in mathematics etc!. Hardship isn't an end all it is a mountain to climb but you must study mountain climbing and know the climbers abilities!. Perhaps take a personality or career test from online or maybe a book at the library!.

Then there is my old favourite, pray and meditate on my path!.
