Those who say that materialism is wrong usually fall into one of three categories:
1!. They are actually just envious of those who have more than they do!.
2!. They say materialism is wrong because their god or holy book says it's wrong!. This is a type of logical fallacy known as "argument from authority!."
3!. They have a basic economic misconception that one person's gain must come from another person's loss!. But this isn't how economics works!. In fact, demand for non-essential goods creates lots of new jobs and income!.

If a person wants to acquire material goods, he should be free to do so!. If doing so somehow comes at the expense of his relationships with others, then that's his problem, and others should just tell him to piss off!.

Acquiring necessary belongings isn't normally thought of as materialism!. When we criticize someone for being materialistic, we are usually referring to someone who desires material possessions far beyond those which are necessary and who puts material possessions above human relationships!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
