Question: Why do most people confuse the true goal of Happiness!?
Most people in society these days think making a ton of money, looking sexy, or being famous is the true source of Happiness!. Yet, there are many people who have everything in terms of materialism but find their lives unfulfilling!. They could have all the money, sex, and cars in the world, but they could feel totally empty inside!. Why are these superficial things such as money and cars confused with the ultimate goal of true Happiness!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Happiness is an internal intangible emotion and once you feel happiness you want to continue to feel that way again!. So we set out to recreate that feeling with tangible superficial things like money, sex, cars, clothes etc!. Happiness is the direct cause from an experience that elicit a giddy feeling like that of being, giving and receiving love, of having freedom, of being around friends and family where there is mutual respect, laughter and good food, graduating from school/college, getting an A on a test that you really studied for, getting that great job, having a roof over your head, being able to pay bills and most of all helping others that are less fortunate than you!. Yes, true happiness is a feeling that is internal and everyone have a happiness blueprint specifically made for them, and no two blueprints are the same!. Happiness is within!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because the ultimate goal of happiness isn't being taught to the people!. Most people are ignorant to what a fulfilling and meaningful life actually is!. In this world we live in, our kids are constantly exposed to endless advertisements selling everything from socks to sex leaving them the impresseion that's what life is all about and alot of them aren't lucky enough to recieve the guidance that leads to the truth!. Many people think that certain things, particularly material things, will bring them the kind of happiness they are looking for!. Based on my own life's experiences and everything else I've been able to find out about life, it appears that happiness is one of those things that is generated from within ourselves!. Being a loving person and doing good works for our fellow man looks like a truer way to happiness than doing those things to generate money and material objects!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Happiness isn't my true goal!. That's just a little less shallow than materialism in my opinion!. I think the true goal has nothing to do with ones self but about the contribution they can make!. Whether this road demands sacrifice and suffering from you is irrelevant; your happiness doesn't matter!.

Did Christ, Galileo, Edgar Allen Poe, St!. John of the Cross, Joan of Arc, or others I'm sure you can think of lead 'happy' lives!. No, but they made the world a more informed, or safer, or more interesting place to live!. To me that should be our purpose and our goal and not being 'happy!.'Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because they do not realize true happiness only comes with peace of mind!. Instead of coming to grips with the real issues affecting their lives they try to cover the problems with material items and wild behavior!. It never works!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The confusion lies in seeking satisfaction in the gifts instead of the gift giver!.

The worth and excellency of a soul is to be measured by the object of its love!. - Henry Scougal Www@QuestionHome@Com

!.!.!.happiness is determined by the individual!.!.!.
!.!.!.though they may look unhappy!.!.!.i don't hear any complaints!.!.!.

Not everybody IS only happy with money and other material things!. But what if having all of that stuff really did make you happy!? Should they feel guilty or something because you don't think it's okay to!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

this is not an objective thing
if u feel happy you are happy
the thing is how to maintain the feeling of happinessWww@QuestionHome@Com

either, we want what other people have or we play into the roles that culture has assigned for us!. other than that, i dunno!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Good question!. Wish I knew, but I'll be watching your question!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because we always want what we can't have, and in some aspects,
"you CAN'T get there from here"

Some people don't want to believe that their dreams and goals will have a dead end, when they reach them, or the outcome that they desired or DREAMED of!.

They equate home, family, fame, wealth of the monetary sort, addictions met, house with love or happiness when maybe thats what they had growing up OR thats what they wanted growing up and didn't have!.

They don't realize that just because someone might have it right, or be happy, doesn't mean that if they did the EXACT same things they would get the exact same results or feelings!.

Every person is wired differently!.
Every result is not the same!.
Every result does not bring the same emotions in different people!.

I truly think the smartest people in the world find their fit and love it!.
Whether it is money, family, health, or a cache of cars!.

If they have found happiness, the best thing is not to
a get too greedy
b not to take it for granted it will always be there
c lack appreciation for it and not take care of it
d risk it
e hurt others to get it at any cost

People have to find out it is not math which is always constant and reliable!. It is not one size fits all!. People have to live and learn hopefully, where their true happiness lies, and hopefully it brings them true rewards and the rest of the populace some contribution in some way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
