Well, I believe we are already surviving without much of the "decency" we used to have, in this culture anyway!. But I guess you'd have to define "decency", which I imagine is different across individuals and cultures!. For me, it means treating others as you would have them treat you--and that is ALL!. There is no need to follow man or "god" made scriptures, laws, rules, etc!. if we all would just do this!. There are other animals for whom cooperation is key to their adaptation and survival, and I think it is wired into us as well!. Our ancestors cooperated and protected each other; however, they also fought each other for resources!. We're doing the same today, but under the guise of "god and country" and all that those things imply for us!. We allow ourselves to be indecent to each other, to the earth, to animals, even to our own minds and bodies, because we've cloaked our indecency with rhetoric that no longer contains meaning: "god" and "country"!. Will this be the death of us!? Early humans knew what they were fighting for!. It was simple!. They also knew why they had to cooperate with one another and why they had to respect each other!. Behaviors become "instinct", wired into us, over time, right!? That's my understanding anyway!. Look at domesticated animals!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes I wonder about that myself!. I have found this to be the best answer!. God!. God is inside us all even those who don't believe in Him!. That goodness that we feel that urge to help another is His interaction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
