Question: Why do people fear the unknown!?
im watching a video on youtube called dangerous knowledge!. where a mathematician tries to figure out how big infinite is!. i guess the guy ended up changing mathematics forever but in his days his work was sort of concealed and condemned by other mathematicians for fear of being uncertain about things!. it said once you understand one thing a whole new set of questions arise!.

so that made me wonder why do people have such a fear of the unknown that they would throw out perfect pieces of wisdom in order to feel like they have a good grasp on things!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

"it said once you understand one thing a whole new set of questions arise!."

Because of ^ that!.

Think about it!. Answering any question may have an impact on the world!. Good or bad!. It is the fear that the understanding of one thing leads to the questioning of others, It may offset everything we know and believe now!. Even the simplest of things like, does the flap of a butterflies wings really have an affect on the other side of the globe!.

If flapping a butterflies wings brought catastrophe to someone somewhere else, then it can be used as a weapon!. Or maybe it doesn't
bring catastrophe!. It could bring happiness and joy!. It all depends of course on weather you knew the outcome!.

If any one person could tell you exactly, with certainty, the events that would occur after figuring the answer to any question, there would be no need to fear the unknown!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Basically because our perception of risk is much higher with anything unknown!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. surprisingly this is true even with our first love where we hesitate much more or longer before we can declare our love to our first beloved!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. when I say 'perception', it also implies that the perceived higher risk may not be true at all and the fear may thus turn out to be unwarranted, and yet, we can not ignore the initial perception until further exposure or experience proves the fear to be unwarranted!.

I think Nature has instilled this fear in our psyche in order to serve two purposes!.!.!.!.!.!.!. firstly, the drive to explore which is strengthened by our fear of the unexplored and secondly, the fear operates as a built-in safety mechanism against unwarranted harm or damage!. Either way, the fear of the unknown helps us more than it inhibits us, since curiosity wouldn't let it last for too long!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's what you feel when the lights go out and you're alone!.!.!. not knowing if you're really alone as you'd think you are!. "What's that sound!?" "Did I see something!?" "Oh I felt something!" Etc!.

I guess not knowing what to do leads to panic!. And panicking is an internal drive that feeds itself on fear!. And fear is when you don't know how to solve something that would lead to your demise, or to something you hold onto dearly!.

Unless that change is a sure way to improve your life, then I guess everyone would fear the unknown!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

to me, i think that people fear the unknown, because no one can predict what the future lies!. It can be good, bad, terrible, positive, or maybe a roller coaster of emotions!. Not knowing what will happen causes fear in some, if not all, people!. Life is unpredictable, and when people are aware of that, one of the natural response is being scared!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A very good question, which answers itself!.

We fear, because it remains 'unknown', we do not know how to proceed, we do not know where it will lead, basically, the ''unknown' element shakes the mental comfort zone, so feeling uneasy, fearing and all that happens!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

People have a natural drive of self preservation!. From this all fear arises!. Phobos in greek mythology is the God of fear and horror!.
We fear the unknown, because we automatically associate unknown with the danger possibly arising!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In my opinion, it's a natural response!. Even as babies, most of us would cry when someone different would interact with us!. Some people just can't handle change so they reject it!. Others learn to bend and grow with the things around them!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
